Boulder
Junction Snowmobiling and Snowmobile Trail Condition Reports
Welcome to the Boulder
Junction Trail Reports page. As regular visitors to Boulder Junction
will know, the local snowmobile club offers some of the finest
riding in the Midwest.
The 130 miles of trail in and
around the Boulder Junction area are constantly groomed throughout
the season, to keep them in tip-top shape. The trails are connected
to hundreds of miles of Vilas County trails, and thousands of miles
of northern Wisconsin trails. It's no accident that our area
continually wins awards for best snowmobile destination. It is also
worth noting that Boulder Junction lies far enough north that we are
well inside the U.P. snow-belt. We often receive lake effect snow
that communities to our south do not receive.

Trail report for March 9, 2020 – Trails are poor. The present temp is 24 degrees above zero and mostly cloudy. We groomed on Friday after the snow we had, and the trails turned out very nice. With sunny days and the temps reaching into the 50’s the last two days the trails in our trail system turned from good to poor. The next few days are expected to be in the 40’s for highs. This is not good. Please stay on marked trails. The corners and other areas are getting bare and very icy. Road routes and road crossings are bare. The cabin fever party on Saturday was a huge success! I would like to thank Jesse, Crystal, Jimmy Dean and their crew for hosting this event. I would also like to thank Jen and everyone that helped and supported this event. Thanks! Remember to be safe, ride right, and enjoy the ride.

Snowmobile trail report for March 6, 2020 – Trails are in GOOD condition. We went out yesterday to inspect our trails by snowmobile and with the approximately 4 inches of heavy wet snow we received most of our trail system is very flat with a very hard base. With the very little amount of traffic and the added amounts of snow it really made it an enjoyable ride. It may not last very long because we are expected to have some warm weather the next few days and our trails could degrade very quickly. My advice is to get out there and ride while the conditions are this good. Please stay on marked trails. The corners and other areas are getting bare and very icy. Road routes and road crossings can be bare. Please use caution! Please join us at our annual Cabin Fever Party this Saturday March 7th at the Boulder Beer Bar from 2:00 pm to 8:00 pm. Lots of fun will be had by everyone! Remember to be safe, ride right, and enjoy the ride.

Trail report for March 4, 2020 – Trails are still open but are poor to fair. It was snowing yesterday but not more than a dusting of accumulation. It is presently about 16 degrees above zero and partly cloudy. The last few days there has been very little traffic on the trail. With the temps for the next few days rising to the mid 30’s to the mid 40’s the trails will continue to degrade. In the woods out of town the trails are much better. There still is some riding for that diehard snowmobiler. Please stay on marked trails. The corners and other areas are getting bare and very icy. Road routes and road crossings are mostly bare. Please use caution! Remember to be safe, ride right, and enjoy the ride.

Trail report for March 2, 2020 – Trails are still open but are poor to fair. The sunshine yesterday along with the temps in the mid 40’s really took a toll on our trails. With the temps expected to be in the high 30’s to the 40’s for the week we have suspended our grooming until further notice. I wish I had better news but without some fresh snow and colder temps the trails are down to the base and will continue to degrade. This could be the beginning of the end. The corners and other areas are getting bare and very icy. Road routes and road crossings are mostly bare. Please use caution! Remember to be safe, ride right, and enjoy the ride.

Trail report for February 28, 2020 – Trails are fair to good overall. The present temp is 10 above zero and sunny. The last couple of days has been mostly cloudy with cooler temps. This has really saved our good conditions. We have been grooming and the trails have been turning out rather nice with the little snow we have. With the increase in traffic over the weekend and the warmer temps possibly in the 40’s the trails could degrade very quickly. The good conditions may not last very long. We will have to wait and see. The corners and other areas are getting bare and very icy. Road routes and crossing may be very bare. Please use caution! Remember to be safe, ride right, and enjoy the ride.

Trail report for February 26, 2020 – Trails are fair to good overall. The present temp in Boulder Junction is 12 above zero and light snow. It is mostly cloudy and should remain overcast and a dusting of snow for the rest of the day. The warm sunny days since the weekend have degraded our trails quite a bit. We have been out grooming last night and the night before when the temps cooled down. Even though there was very little snow to work with the trails surprisingly turned out good. The base is getting very thin but with the limited amount of traffic, cooler temps, and continued cloudy skies the trails should not degrade as quickly. We need more significant amounts of snow and subzero temps to get the trails back in excellent shape but will do what we can with what we got. The corners and other areas are getting bare and very icy. Please use caution! Remember to be safe, ride right, and enjoy the ride.

Trail report for February 24, 2020 – Trails are fair to good overall. Over the weekend there was very heavy traffic Our trail counter just went over 20,000 for the season! The weather from the last few days has not been very kind to us. It has been very sunny, and the temps reached into the 40’s. This took a toll and degraded the trails quite a bit. Todays temps may reach in the high 30’s and we don’t expect snow until maybe Thursday. This will further degrade our trails. We will have to wait and do what we can until we get more snow and colder temps. Be aware with the high snowbanks at intersections visibility is diminished. The corners and other areas can be icy so use caution. Flagging and signs are up for a reason. STAY ON THE TRAIL! Some snowmobiles are going off the trails and getting stuck in the deep snow. Remember to be safe, ride right, and enjoy the ride.

Trail report for February 21, 2020 – Trails are good to very good. The Groomers were out last night, and this morning and the trails turned out very nice. With the lack of snow on the trail there is not a lot of snow to work with to lay out a nice flat trail but with the cold weather the trails have gotten stiff and hard. We are expecting a warmup over the weekend and the trails could get very soft. Along with the increase in traffic this could make the trails get bumpy very quickly. The groomers will be out doing the best they can to make your ride more enjoyable. The corners and other areas can be icy so use caution. Stay on marked trails! Remember to be safe, ride right, and enjoy the ride.

Trail report for February 19, 2020 – Trails are good. The present temp in Boulder Junction this morning was 10 below zero and may stay in the subzero temps throughout tomorrow. There is no snow expected soon and we might have a warm up starting Friday. It could reach in the 40’s for highs by Sunday. There has not been a significant amount of snowfall for quite some time now. We were out grooming and even with the lack of snow on the trails they have been turning out very nice. The corners and other areas can be very icy. Please use caution. Our trail counter is over 18,600 since opening day! Stay on marked trails! Remember to be safe, ride right, and enjoy the ride.

Trail report for February 17, 2020 – Trails are good. The present temp in Boulder Junction this morning is 8 above zero. The rest of the day we could get temps in the low 30’s. The groomers were out last night and laid out a nice flat trail. With the subzero temps in the early morning the trail stiffens up and will stay smoother longer. We are expecting some more snow later today but looks like only a couple of inches. We could really use more snow to freshen up our trails. The corners and other areas can be bare and icy. Use caution. I would like to thank Chef Jesse and Chef Jimmy Dean and their crew for hosting the breakfast fundraiser at the Boulder Beer Bar Sunday. I also like to thank all the helpers and everyone that supported and made this event so successful. It was a great breakfast spread! Stay on marked trails! Trail report for February 14, 2020 – Trails are good. Happy Valentine’s Day! This morning the temp in Boulder Junction was 25 below zero. Brrrr! Bitter Cold. Riding the trails at these temps can be very dangerous. Cold weather injuries and mechanical failures can occur very quickly. Use extreme caution! We were out grooming last night and will be out grooming throughout the weekend. With the lack of snow on the trail many spots and corners can be icy. No snow is expected until maybe Monday. Please join us at our breakfast fundraiser held at the Boulder Beer Bar this Sunday February 16, 2020 from 8:30 to 11:00. All proceeds go to trail maintenance so if you like great trails for snowmobiling, support this event! Stay on marked trails! Remember to be safe, ride right, and enjoy the ride.

Trail report for February 12, 2020 – Trails are good. The present temp today here in Boulder Junction is 14 Deg. We had a dusting of snow yesterday and may get a dusting of snow for the next few days. We also expect the temps for the next day to get colder with highs in the single digits. With the lack of snow on the trail it’s hard to keep the trails flat and there are many areas that can be icy, and the snow can be very hard especially in the corners. Please use caution. The groomers are out there doing the best they can to make your ride more enjoyable for you. When you see them give them give them a thumbs up and follow all directions from the groomer. They can be out on the trail any time day or night. Pray for more snow! Stay on marked trails! Remember to be safe, ride right, and enjoy the ride.

Boulder Junction Snowmobile Trail report for February 10, 2020 – Trails are good. This morning the temp was 14 below zero. Very cold! With the very heavy traffic over the weekend and the lack of snow it was very hard to groom out a nice flat trail. The snow from the storm Sunday all went south of us and we just got a dusting. It is expected to stay in the low 20’s for most of the day with highs in the high 20’s for the next couple of days so the snow on the trail should not melt. We will do what we can to groom out a good trail, but we really need more snow. We are expecting some more snow on Wednesday but will have to see how much we will get. Some corners are getting bare and icy so use caution. Stay on marked trails! Remember to be safe, ride right, and enjoy the ride.

Trail report for February 7, 2020 – Trails are good. Today and the next few days it is expected to stay cooler in the teens and low 20’s. We may get some light snow later today but there is a good chance of some significant amount of snow on Sunday. With the large amount of traffic expected for this weekend we will be out grooming every day to do what we can to make a smoother ride for you. Some corners are getting bare and icy. Be aware that groomers can be out at any time of the day or night. Take all directions from the groomer. Stay on marked trails! Remember to be safe, ride right, and enjoy the ride.

Trail report for February 5, 2020 – Trails are good. The last few days with an arctic blast of below zero temps and light traffic the trails have stiffened up. Our groomers were out last night and this morning grooming our entire trail system. With the temp reading at 18 below zero this morning the trails are rock hard and should stay smoother for a longer time. We expect cooler temps in the 20’s and teens for the rest of the week, although not the subzero temps we received the last couple of days. There is no snow in the near forecast but expect some snow maybe at the end of the weekend. We could really use some new snow to freshen up our trails. Stay on marked trails! Trail report for February 3, 2020 – Trails are fair to good. With the very heavy traffic and the very mild temps the flat trails did not last long and got bumpy very quickly. The forecast for the next few days is expected to get cooler. If this happens the trails could stiffen up and stay smoother longer after we get done grooming them. There is no snow expected soon and it could get sunny by the middle of the week. We have had some riders going off trails on private lands without permission. Please do not do this. These trails could be shut down and everyone will suffer. Stay on marked trails! If meeting a groomer take all direction from the groomer. They are out there any time of the day or night to make your ride more enjoyable. Remember to be safe, ride right, and enjoy the ride.

Trail report for January 31, 2020 – Trails are good. The weather for the weekend is expected to stay very mild with temps reaching in the high 30’s to maybe the low 40’s. There may be some very light snow showers. Since the season has opened our trail counter as counted over 14,000 sleds! With the high amount of traffic expected along with the warm temps the groomed trails will degrade quickly. One good factor is it is supposed to stay mostly cloudy over the weekend. We will continue to groom throughout the weekend and do what we can. Be aware some corners are starting to get bare and icy. A big thanks to all that helped on maintenance night at the groomer shed doing oil changes and grease jobs on our groomers and drags. Stay on marked trails! Trail report for January 27, 2020 – Trails are fair to good. Over the weekend we had a lot of traffic. With temps in the 30’s and the soft snow the bumps were created quickly. We experienced some mechanical problems with our groomers during the weekend we were down to one groomer, grooming our trails. With the temps not helping us out we were grooming around the clock when we could. The trails we groomed really turned out nice but did not last very long with the heavy traffic. We will get our groomer back together today and be back to full strength. The weather doesn’t seem to be cooperating and is expected to stay in the warm temps for the next few days. We will just do what we can do. Please use extreme caution in all areas! Stay on marked trails! Remember to be safe, ride right, and enjoy the ride.

With the temps staying in the 30’s the trails are getting very soft which can create bumps very quickly. The temps are expected to stay in the 30’s over the next couple of days and heavier traffic over the weekend which will not help us out any. Trail report for January 22, 2020 – Trails are very Good. With the decrease in traffic and the added snow from the weekend our groomers did a great job on the trail yesterday. We are expecting more snow in the next couple of days, maybe 2 to 4 inches. The temps may get warmer staying in the 20’s and may reach into the low 30’s. The snow we do receive will be a very wet snow. The groomers can be out at any time of the night or day. Take all directions from the groomer. The groomers are out busting butt grooming, clearing hazards, and fixing signs while you’re in bed sleeping to make a safer and more enjoyable ride for you. Give them a thumbs up. Trail report for January 20, 2020 – Trails are very Good. This morning the little bit of lake effect of snow we got is ending. The temps are expected to be in the 20’s for highs today. More snow is expected in the middle of this week. Over the weekend we experienced very high volumes of traffic but had our groomers out doing the best to make your ride more enjoyable. With the added amounts of snow we received we were able to lay out a nice flat trail but without the subzero temps the trails remain soft and can create bumps very quickly. Some corners are starting to become bare and icy. I would like to thank everyone that worked and supported our breakfast fundraiser at the Aqualand Ale House yesterday. Trail report for January 17, 2020 – Trails are very Good. We got some snow to freshen up our trails. The added snow, along with the subzero temps made the trails nice and flat. It stiffened up our trails and groomed out very nice overnight. Temps overnight were subzero, and we expect 4 to 6 inches of snow over the weekend. That is very good. We will be out grooming throughout the weekend to make the trails nice and flat. With the large amount of snow and the heavy traffic expected, it can create bumps very quickly. We are expected more snow today and tonight. We will have to wait to see how much we get. Trail report for January 13, 2020 – Trails are good. Today it is snowing but not much accumulation. With the lack of fresh snow there is not a lot of snow to work with on the trail, but the trails are turning out nice and flat. We are expected to get more snow tomorrow, but we will have to see how much we will get. The temps have been staying colder so the snow on the trails is not melting. If it keeps snowing throughout the week the trails should remain just fine. Watch out for groomers who can be on the trail any time of the day or night. Follow all directions from them. Trail report for January 10, 2020 – Trails remain good. The groomers were out last night and will be out throughout the entire weekend. There is little snow to work with on the trail, but we can lay out a nice flat trail. We are expecting some snow over the weekend but doesn’t seem to be any significant amounts. With the increase in traffic over the weekend it is best to get out early since the warmer temps degrade the trails quickly. On Saturday January 11, 2020 we are having a fundraiser Brat Fry at the Granary from 11:00 – 2:00. We invite you to support this event. Hope to see you there. Please use extreme caution in all areas! Trail report for January 8, 2020 – Trails remain good. The weather the last few days has cooled down and last night throughout this morning has been in the single digits. This has kept our trails from melting. It snowed last night and looked like it was coming down pretty good while we were grooming but turned out to be just a dusting. There are warmer temps expected later this week and maybe a small wintery mix for Thursday. There is no significant amount of snowfall soon. The snow is starting to wear out on the trails and getting thin in areas but is still turning out flat when groomed. At least with the lack of snow on the trail it does not create big bumps. Please use extreme caution in all areas! Stay on marked trails! Remember to be safe, ride right, and enjoy the ride.

Trail report for January 6, 2020 – Trails are good. Our groomers have been out grooming the trails and they have been turning out very nice and flat. There is not a lot of snow to work with but enough snow to do a good job. The weather looks like it will be sunny today and temps up into the 30’s which is not good for our trails. The next few days we expect a cool down, but we could really use a nice few inches of snow followed by a subzero freeze. Without that the trails remain soft and bumps are created quickly. Please use extreme caution in all areas! Stay on marked trails! Remember to be safe, ride right, and enjoy the ride.

Trail report for January 3, 2020 – Trails are good. Going into the New Year we have had a lot of sleds going over our trails. We have been grooming and will be out grooming for the entire weekend. Our weather remains cool and maybe some snow on Sunday but not a lot of snow expected. The snow on the trails is very clean and white but without the subzero temps the trails are not setting up and are staying soft. With heavy traffic the trails can get bumpy very quickly. We need some subzero temps to really make the trails hard. We will be out doing what we can to make a better ride for you. Please use extreme caution in all areas! Stay on marked trails! Remember to be safe, ride right, and enjoy the ride.

Trail report for Wednesday, January 1 – Fair to Good. I Hope everyone had a safe and Happy New Year. We got about 10+ inches of snow Sunday night through yesterday. We were out last night grooming and will be grooming today all trails leading into town. With all this snow along with an increase in traffic it creates bumps very quickly. Since opening day of our trails opening, we have had over 4000 sleds on our trail. This started out to be a very wet and heavy snow Sunday and will pack very well. With cooler temps it will help increasing our base. It would really help if we had some subzero temps to stiffen up the trail. We are at the hands of Mother Nature and we take what she gives us. Please use extreme caution in all areas! Stay on marked trails! Remember to be safe, ride right, and enjoy the ride.

Trail report for December 30, 2019 – Poor to fair. The bad news is that the temps the last couple of days were in the 30’s with rain and lots of traffic degrading our trails rapidly. The good news is that it is snowing right now we are expected to get several inches of snow through today with cooler temps. We will just have to wait to see how much snow we receive. 6” to 9” is expected. Along with cooler temps our groomers will be out grooming to make a better ride for you starting tonight. Be aware that groomers can be out grooming at any time of the day or night grooming. Take all directions from the groomer. Please pray for more snow and subzero temps. Please use extreme caution in all areas! Stay on marked trails! I hope everyone has a safe and happy New Year. Remember to be safe, ride right, and enjoy the ride.

Trail report for December 27, 2019 – Fair to Good. The snow on our trail system has been melting the last few days and is expected to continue to melt over the next few days. With the increase of traffic this weekend and adding warm temp with rain on Saturday night the trails could degrade quickly. Our groomers have been and will be out in the middle of the night when the temps are below the 30’s to groom and do what we can do to make the trails better. Snow is expected Sunday night with cooler temps early next week. Please pray for more snow and subzero temps. Please use extreme caution in all areas! Stay on marked trails! Trail report for December 25, 2019 – Overall good for early season riding. We have had a lot of traffic on our trails during this holiday season. Our groomers have been out Christmas eve and Christmas day working to make the trails better for you. A big Thank You goes out to them for their outstanding work. The trails are starting to get some moisture and are beginning to pack down with the warmer temps, but we really need some subzero temps to stiffen them up and make them solid. The forecast is not in our favor and looks like we will have continued warm weather in the 30’s for the next few days. Pray for snow and cold weather. Please use extreme caution in all areas! Stay on marked trails! Remember to be safe, ride right, and enjoy the ride. Merry Christmas to everyone!

Trail report for December 23, 2019 – Overall fair to good for early season riding. Since the opening on Friday we have had a lot of traffic on Boulders trails. We had some warmer weather in the high 30’s the last few days and our base is still forming. We started off with fluffy snow lacking moisture and not packing well so when we groom it a dozen snowmobiles with paddle tracks just rip it up. We expect the continued warmer weather adding moisture but without sub-zero temps at night it won’t stiffen up the trails. Groomers have been out throughout the weekend. A good wet snow with a freeze up would be great but the forecast is not calling for it. Just be patient and be thankful we do have snow currently on our trails. Please use extreme caution in all areas! Stay on marked trails! Remember to be safe, ride right, and enjoy the ride. Hope Everyone has a Merry Christmas!

Vilas County Snowmobile Trails opened today (December 20) at 8:00am. All trails in the Boulder Junction Trail System have been panned and are just starting to create a base. We are happy to report that the trails are in EXCELLENT early season riding condition.
I would like to thank everyone involved for their hard work in making it possible for the trail system to be opening. There were a lot of downed trees and limbs on the trail. Please use extreme CAUTION! Some areas have ruts. With the large amounts of snow we’ve had in the last few weeks, hazards and debris can be on the trail.
The swamps and boggy areas in the trail system are still freezing up. Please stay on the marked trails. Be careful! Keep thinking snow and cold to hold and improve our conditions as we head into the season. Remember be safe, ride right, and enjoy the ride!

THE VILAS COUNTY STATE-FUNDED SNOWMOBILE TRAIL SYSTEM WILL OFFICIALLY OPEN AT 8:00 A.M. ON FRIDAY, DECEMBER 20 FOR THE 2019-20 SEASON.
The volunteers that make up the eleven snowmobile clubs in the Vilas County Snowmobile Alliance (VCSA) have been working hard to get the Vilas Snowmobile Trail System open in a timely manner. The last round of snow storms resulted in a lot of trees down throughout our trail network. The ample snowfalls insulated the wet areas resulting in clubs having to pack snow in these areas. The cold temperatures will assist in the freezing.
Please stay off area lakes until trails are clearly marked going across them.

Trail report for March 22, 2019– Trails are fair. It is currently about 18 Deg above zero. The snowmobile trails will officially close at 11:59 P. M. Sunday March 24, 2019. The road routes and road crossings are very bare. There are puddles and bare spots on the corners and other areas. Please use caution. Away from town the conditions do get better and there is very low traffic. Our trails will continue to degrade over the next couple of days with the warm temps. I would like to thank everyone involved in making our trails top notch and the great job our groomers did. We had a great season! Remember to be safe, ride right, and enjoy the ride.

Trail report for March 20, 2019– Trails are fair. It is currently about 24 Deg above zero. It is the first day of spring! With the bright sun and warm temps there was a lot of snow melting going on. The inside corners are wearing out leaving puddles and bare spots. We expect some light snow showers this morning turning to rain this afternoon. The trails get pretty good out away from town but with the warmer temps in the 50’s later in the week and weekend they will not last. It really looks like the last of the season is coming fast. The road routes and road crossings are very bare. Please use caution! Remember to be safe, ride right, and enjoy the ride.

Trail report for March 18, 2019– Trails are good to fair. It is currently about 2 deg above zero. We were out grooming last night and early this morning. The trails turned out surprisingly good. There was very little traffic and with the cold weather over night the trails set up very nice. There are some puddles and the inside corners are wearing out in some areas. Road crossings and road routes are getting bare. With less control with your machines in these areas please use caution. The midday temps are expected to increase throughout the week and weekend. If you still want a good ride the time to get out is NOW! With anticipated low traffic and partly overcast skies the trails should hold up for a few days. High temps towards the weekend could be in the 50’s. OUCH! Remember to be safe, ride right, and enjoy the ride.

Trail report for March 15, 2019– Trails are fair. It is about 20 deg above zero and it is snowing very light. The last two days with the rain and warm temps really took a toll on our trails. Out away from town the snow is very clean, less traffic and melting slower. The trails have turned very icy. Trails at road crossings and road routes can be bare. At road crossings snow banks are still very high with lowered visibility. Please use caution. With decreased control on icy trails please watch out for other riders. We are expected to have overcast skies today and temps in the 30’s so the trails might last a little longer. This coming week with warmer temps could badly degrade the trails. We will have to wait to see. Remember to be safe, ride right, and enjoy the ride.

Trail report for March 13, 2019– Trails are good. The current temp is about 28 deg above zero. The trails are holding up right now. We are expecting some warmer temps in the mid 40’s later today and rain for tonight and tomorrow morning. With more rain and warmer temps on Thursday this will start to degrade our trails drastically. With the rain it can get slick on the trail. Please use caution. One good thing is there may be some more snow during the end of the week, and we will have to wait to see how much snow we get. Another good thing is last year at this time we had stopped grooming for about two weeks and had many bare spots on the trail. Remember to be safe, ride right, and enjoy the ride.

Trail report for March 11, 2019– Trails are good to very good. It is presently about 4 deg above zero. Over the weekend the warmer temps softened the trails up. With the increased traffic over the weekend the nice groomed trails did not last very long. We got a few inches of snow yesterday. The groomers will be out tonight and early tomorrow morning and do what they can to make a nice trail for you. Follow all directions from the groomer. The extended forecast does not look good. We expect warmer temps and rain by the middle of the week. Our trails have plenty of base but with extended warmer temps and rain will deteriorate our trails very fast. Get out and ride while we still have good conditions. I was even out on the trails this weekend and had a blast with the boyz! Remember to be safe, ride right, and enjoy the ride.

Trail report for March 8, 2019– Trails are very good. It is currently about 12 Deg below zero. There may be an increase in temperature during the next few days. We are expecting a snow storm over the weekend and we will have to wait to see how much snow we get. With all this snow we have we should have very nice trails until the end of the month. The snowmobile trails will close March 31, 2019! The groomers were out last night and early this morning. With the cold weather at night the trails stiffen up and stay flatter longer. We expect increased traffic over the weekend so watch out for other riders. The snow on the trails is very clean and has decreased melting to a minimum on the bright sunny days. Please stay on marked trails. Use caution at road crossings. The snow banks are very high, and visibility is very low. Remember to be safe, ride right, and enjoy the ride.

Trail report for March 6, 2019– Trails are very good. It is currently about 20 Deg below zero again. Brrrrr! With this very cold weather at night and the low amount of traffic during the mid-week the trails are staying nice and flat. Thanks to our groomer crew for that! There may be a light snow later this afternoon with highs in the teens. That should make for some good riding. Always use cation and watch out for other riders on the trail. A warm up is expected the next few days with highs in the 20s and 30s. We are expecting a significant snow storm this weekend and could be a very wet snow. We will have to wait to see how much snow we will get. Groomers can be out at any time of the day or night. Please use caution. Remember to be safe, ride right, and enjoy the ride.

We will be out tonight and tomorrow morning with our groomers to lay down a nice trail for you. With the expected lower traffic during the beginning of the week you should experience a great ride. With the enlarged size of snowbanks use caution at intersection road crossings with diminished visibility. Trail report for February 27, 2019 – Trails are VERY GOOD. The current temp is about zero. We got a few inches of snow last night. Yesterday I took a ride with the wife and we did a short loop to Manitowish Waters. The trails were flat and stiff with the below zero temps. There was very little traffic and it was a very enjoyable ride. The Boulder and Manitowish Waters groomers did a great job. Thanks!
With all the snow visibility at intersections and other areas are decreased so use extra caution. Signs on the trail may have become snow-covered. The groomers are clearing the snow from the signs but if you encounter a snow-covered sign on the trail help us out and brush the snow away so riders can see it. Please stay on marked trails. Flagging and signs are up for a reason. STAY ON THE TRAIL! Some snowmobiles are going off the trails and getting stuck in the deep snow. Watch out for the other riders on the trail. Remember to be safe, ride right, and enjoy the ride.

Trail report for February 25, 2019– Trails are very good. The current temp is about 10 below zero. With the last snow storm over the weekend people have been digging out and snow removal is on overtime. The snow we just received over the weekend is about 13+ inches. The deep snow on the trails creates hazards. Broken trees and limbs can break and be blocking the trail. Please use extreme caution! The groomer was out cleaning up some very large pine trees and limbs blocking the trail last night. Thanks to those snowmobilers that helped me out clearing the trail last night. The groomers will be out tonight and tomorrow Grooming a nice flat trail for you. With the large amount of snow on the trail any amount of traffic can create bumps very quickly. Use caution. Signs on the trail can be covered with snow. If you encounter this, please help us to wipe the snow away to make the signs visible. Please stay on marked trails. You can get stuck in all that soft powder snow. Remember to be safe, ride right, and enjoy the ride.

Trail report for February 20, 2019– Trails are very good. The temps have been dipping below zero during the late night and early morning the last few days. The bright sun has been out during the middle of the day in the high 20s but with all the new white snow help slow down the degrading of the trails. We expect the traffic to increase toward the weekend. Today we are expecting another snowstorm and possibly could get about 4 to 6 inches. The corners and other areas remain icy. Please use caution! Trail report for February 13, 2019– Trails are very good. Yesterday through this morning we received 12” plus of snow. With that much snow we have more than enough snow to work with for our drags to lay out a nice trail. Also, with that much snow the trails can degrade quickly. The temps are above zero at this time and expected to average in the high teens for the next few days. The groomed trails with the warmer temps remain soft and don’t stiffen up and stay flat for long. With all the snow we got the corners and other areas remain icy. Please use caution! The snow that was dumped on us seems to be over and another light snow expected on Thursday. The traffic appears to be light through the middle of the week. Have fun in the snow. We have plenty of it! Remember to be safe, ride right, and enjoy the ride.

Trail report for February 11, 2019– Trails are very good. With all the added snow we received the groomers have some snow in the drags to work with. Over the weekend we had very heavy traffic. We have more snow expected tomorrow morning. Six to ten inches is anticipated. With all the snow the trails can degrade very quickly. The groomers will be out tonight and tomorrow to lay out a nice trail. It is presently below zero and at that temp the trail stiffens and firms up very nice to keep a flatten trail longer. The temps are expected to be in the teens for the next few days. The corners and other areas remain icy. Please use caution. The groomers are out there all times of the night and day to make a more enjoyable ride for you. Give them a thumbs up when you see them. Remember to be safe, ride right, and enjoy the ride.

Trail report for February 8, 2019 – Trails are VERY GOOD. The several inches of snow we received yesterday made a lot of people very happy. The groomers were out last night and early this morning laying down a nice flat trail. We expect heavy traffic over the weekend. With all the snow we got it doesn’t take long before the trails degrade quickly. Washboard bumps can form very fast especially near town in congested areas. The temps dipped down below zero last night throughout this morning. This helps firm up the trail and it stays flatter longer. With all the expected increase in traffic this weekend lookout for the other riders. The corners and other areas remain icy. Please use caution. The groomers will be out during the night and early morning over the weekend doing what they can to make a great trail for you to ride on. Remember to be safe, ride right, and enjoy the ride.

Trail report for February 6, 2019– Trails are good. We had very light traffic on the trails the last few days. Yesterday we had a couple inches of snow to freshen up the trails. We are expected to get several inches (3” to 7”} of snow between today and Thursday night. We will have to wait to see how much we get. With the added snow the groomers should be able to lay out a nice trail. The temps are above zero at this time, but the lows are expected to dip below zero throughout the weekend. The corners and other areas remain very icy. Please use caution! With the added snow we anticipate an increase in traffic toward the next few days. Remember to be safe, ride right, and enjoy the ride.

Trail report for February 4, 2019 – Trails are good but icy. Over the weekend we had very heavy traffic. The groomers were out during the weekend and laying out a nice trail. With the warmer temps and the heavy traffic, the trails degrade very quickly. This morning we have freezing rain. There are ice storm warnings until this afternoon. The corners and other areas are very icy. Use cation. The temps are expected to get colder tonight thru tomorrow morning. We expect to send out our groomers tonight. There is some snow in the forecast for this week and hopefully we will get enough to refresh the trails. Be aware that groomers can be out at any time of the day or night. Please use extreme cation. Trail report for February 1, 2019– Trails are good. The groomers were out last night and early this morning and the trails turned out very nice. With the bitter cold temps and very low traffic the trails are staying rock hard. The corners and other areas remain icy. Please use caution. We are expected to get warmer temps and increased traffic over the weekend. The groomers will be out to do what they can do. Give them a thumbs up when you see them. They are out there to make your ride more enjoyable. During the subzero temps please be aware that cold weather injuries can increase. Don’t ride alone. Snowmobile Trail report for January 30, 2019 – Trails are good. The snow we received on Monday was a dusting and did not amount to much. The groomers Monday night and Tuesday morning did lay out a very nice trail. The corners and other areas remain icy so use caution. With the bitter cold (-23 below zero and wind chills of -44 below zero) and very low traffic we are not grooming Wednesday night/Thursday morning for safety of our drivers and equipment. It is expected to get even colder tonight. This can lead to mechanical breakdowns and bad things can happen. Being on a snowmobile at those temps can also dramatically increase the wind chills and mechanical breakdowns. PLEASE USE EXTREME CAUTION. If you do go out riding please do not ride alone! Trail report for January 28, 2019 – Trails are good. Over the weekend we had bitter cold and not much snow. The traffic for the weekend was moderate. The trails remained flat for the most part. With the lack of snow, it is still very hard to fill holes and ruts in the trail. The corners and other areas are very icy. Please use caution. Snow is expected tonight thru tomorrow morning. The groomers will be out, and any significant amount of snow will improve the trail conditions. With the very cold temps cold weather injuries can increase. Be careful of any exposed skin. Trail report for January 18, 2019 – Trails good to fair. Our groomers were out last night and early this morning grooming our complete trail system. With the lack of new fresh snow there is not a lot of snow to work with on the trails. The only good thing is the very cold temp we are having. The cold temps are stiffening up our trails and staying flatter longer. We expect heavy traffic over the weekend and no snow in the forecast expected. With the lack of snow on the trails the corners and other areas can be bare and icy. Please use extreme caution. We are having a snowmobile club breakfast/meat paddle raffle this Sunday at Gooch’s. Trail report for January 16, 2019 – Trails good to fair. On the trails last night, the snow was very soft and mushy. We had warmer temps and freezing rain. With the colder temps today and hopefully for the rest of the week the trails should stiffen up and stay flat for a longer time. We expect heavier traffic towards the weekend. If we would get a few inches of lake effect snow every few days and colder temps that would help improve our conditions but there is no snow in the forecast throughout the weekend. With the low amount of snow on the trails the corners and other areas it can be bare and icy. Please use extreme caution. Remember to be safe, ride right, and enjoy the ride.

Trail report for January 14, 2019 – Trails are overall good with some areas just fair. Over the weekend there was heavy traffic. We were out grooming but with warmer temps the soft snow over our base does not stiffen up and the sleds blow all the snow out of the corners. The groomers grab the snow and put it back into the trail but the next couple of sleds blow it back out again since the snow is soft and sugary. The snow is just wearing out. We need colder temps and more fresh snow. We are expected to get colder temps starting mid-week and through the weekend but not much snow. Hopefully we will get some lake effect snow from the cold temps. We still don’t have enough snow to fill in the ruts and bare spots in some areas. In other areas it’s nice and flat with great riding. Please use caution with the icy bare spots and corners. Our Groomers will be out tonight and tomorrow morning to do the best they can do. We just got to roll with the punches that Mother Nature gives us. Remember to be safe, ride right, and enjoy the ride.

Trail report for January 11, 2019 – Trails are in overall good condition. With the colder temps and not so heavy traffic the trails have turned out very nice. We had our groomers out last night and this morning to complete our trail system. We have some areas with ruts and bare spots and there still is not enough snow to fill them up. If we would get a couple of inches of snow every few days, it would greatly improve the trail conditions. With too much snow it creates big bumps quickly. Looks like there is no snow expected over the weekend but the colder temps will remain. Be aware that groomers could be on the trail at any time of the day or night. Use caution. When seeing a groomer on the trail please yield and take all directions from the groomer driver. Remember to be safe, ride right, and enjoy the ride.

Trail report for January 9, 2019 – Overall Fair for early season riding. With the additional much needed snow we got Monday really helped our groomers smooth out the trails. There has been minimum traffic during the early to mid-week and the colder temps has stiffened up our base. The base is still very thin. We can always use some more snow. I’m expecting more traffic starting on Thursday so we will be out grooming trying to do the best we can do with what we have got. If we keep getting more snow and the colder temps remain, we will be fine. Please use caution in all areas. The corners and many other spots are bare and icy. Pray for Colder temps and more snow. Trail report for January 7, 2019 – Overall poor to fair for early season. With the temps in the 30’s over the weekend and lack of any snow did not help our trail system. With the 4 inches of snow we received starting at about 12:00 AM this morning we were out with our groomers and it really help to improve them. We were hoping for more snow than what we got but we always do. We will go out tonight to complete our trail system and hopefully the warm temps and rain expected today will be at a minimum in our area. Please use extreme cation in all areas! It is very icy and bare in corners and many areas. I would like to personally thank Lee & Pam for hosting our fundraiser Brat Fry at the Granary on Saturday. Trail report for January 2, 2019 – Overall fair for early season riding. We were out last night and this morning grooming boulder’s entire trail system. There is very little snow to work with and the temps in the next few days are expected to be in the high 30’s. This will only degrade our trails. Please use caution in all areas. We have very little base and could use a significant amount of snow to get our trails in good shape. Monday and Tuesday there is some snow expected but we will have to wait to see how much we get. Trail report for January 2, 2019 – Overall fair for early season riding. I hope everyone had a safe and Happy New Year. Our groomers were out last night and early this morning doing Boulders entire trail system. Our base is still forming, and there is very little snow to work with. Some areas are nice and flat but some areas have ruts and dips and there is not enough snow to fill them in. Please use extreme caution! Stay on marked trails! The cold temps really helped set up the trails but we have a warm front coming towards the weekend. The warm temps will not be good for our trail conditions. It is expected to snow early next week but we really need a significant amount of snow and cold to get our trails in top shape. Think snow and cold. Trail report for December 31, 2018 – Overall fair for early season riding. Since the opening on Saturday we have had a lot of traffic on Boulders trails. Our two day total for sleds on 15N was 902. Our base is still forming, and everything is still freezing up. Please use exreme caution! Stay on marked trails! All areas have very little snow and one good thing is that it’s not creating big bumps. Hopefully we will get some significant amount of snow and continued cold soon to increase our base and get the groomers out to smooth out the trail. The Vilas County Snowmobile Alliance met on December 19, 2018. There was a unanimous decision to keep the area trails closed and not project a possible opening date. The extended forecast does not call for enough snow to create an adequate base and we are seeing some of the low areas starting to thaw.We will make an announcement at such time the trails can open safely.

The volunteers in the eleven snowmobile clubs in the Vilas County

wait until next Wednesday’s 19 December VCSA meeting to reevaluate the

OFFICIALLY CLOSE EFFECTIVE 5:00 P.M. MONDAY MARCH 19TH, 2018.
Conditions have continued to deteriorate and most trails have become

Trail report for March 16, 2018 Poor. The warm weather over the weekend has degraded our trails even further. Road crossings and road routes are very bare. The trail conditions do get better out in the woods away from town but there still is bare spots and they are getting bigger. Most of the trail is down to the base and very icy. Looks like we are not going to get any snow in the near forecast and temps will remain around freezing. Sorry I don’t have any better news. Remember to be safe, ride right, and enjoy the ride.

Trail report for March 16, 2018 Poor to Fair Condition. With no snow in the forecast the trails have remained very much the same. The trails are down to the base and bare in spots but out away from town are much better. With the temps in the 30’s to 40’s for the next couple of days they will degrade very quickly. This may be the last time to take that sled for a ride before putting it away for the season. Remember to be safe, ride right, and enjoy the ride.

Trail report for March 14, 2018 Poor to Fair Condition. With some warm weather and sunshine over the weekend the trails continue to deteriorate. There are bare spots and puddles in some areas. The trails are very icy and down to the base. Out in the woods away from town it does get better. There is not a lot of traffic which helps some. Road routes are getting very bare and icy. The continued warm weather and sunshine will continue to degrade our trails. Sorry I couldn’t give better news. Remember to be safe, ride right, and enjoy the ride.
The Vilas County Snowmobile Alliance President has contacted all 11 Clubs. The recommendation from these 11 Clubs to the Vilas County Park & Recreation Administrator is to have the trails remain open this weekend. The clubs will again communicate Monday or Tuesday of next week to determine how long we can keep them open. This may be one of your last weekends to ride for the season.

Trail report for March 9, 2018 Poor to Fair Condition The trails are very thin and down to the base in a lot of areas. The few inches of snow we got at the beginning of the week and the low amount of traffic made the trails ridable. With the temps in the mid 30’s and increased traffic over the weekend I don’t think our trails will stand up and will degrade very quickly. There are bare spots and puddles in some areas. We will just have to see how long it will last. We need more snow and colder weather! Remember to be safe, ride right, and enjoy the ride.

Trail report for March 7, 2018 Poor to Fair condition. We received some snow yesterday and got about 2 inches. To the south of us they got more. I went for a ride yesterday and inspected half of our trail system. The conditions were pretty good overall. Near town it is very bare and snowmobile routes on roads are mainly blacktop. There are some puddles in some areas and parts of the trail were down to dirt with just the fresh snow covering it. The trail is very hard and down to the base but with the added couple inches of snow it made the ride enjoyable. The humps and bumps were at a minimum and there was very low traffic (saw some tracks but no sleds on the trail). With that said I don’t know how long that will last. I will be out today to inspect the rest of our trail system and it is snowing right now but no expected snow accumulations in the near future. The temps are expected to be in the 30’s for the weekend. We will just have to see how thing turn out. Remember to be safe, ride right, and enjoy the ride.

Trail report for March 5, 2018 Poor to Fair condition. With the continued warm weather over the weekend our trails really took a hit. The trails are down to just the base in spots and can be bare and icy in spots. Road crossings and road routes are down to the bare blacktop so use caution riding in these areas. In the woods away from town the trails get much better but can still have ice and bare spots. It is expected to get in the middle 30’s today which will continue to degrade our trails but tonight we will get a storm system with about 2” to 4” of snow in the Northwoods. We will have to see how much we will get by tomorrow morning. Pray for a lot of snow! Remember to be safe, ride right, and enjoy the ride.

Trail report for March 2, 2018 Poor to Fair condition. The weather sure has not been good to us lately. We did receive a couple of inches of snow yesterday, but it won’t help all that much. It is expected to be in the 40’s over the weekend and it’s going to melt a lot of snow. We will have to see how bad it will get. The trails seem to be pretty good out in the woods but around town they are very bare and poor. We have our biggest fundraiser this Saturday at Gooch’s Bar- Cabin Fever Party. Please come out and join us for a lot of fun. We have a great dinner and a lot of prizes to win. Remember to be safe, ride right, and enjoy the ride.

Trail report for February 28, 2018, Poor to Fair condition. The last two days with the temps in the 40’s and sunshine has degraded our trails drastically. The warm weather will continue through the week and the snow will continue to melt. There are bare spots and puddles on the trail with road routes very bare. There is some snow expected later tonight and tomorrow but is only supposed to be a dusting. When you get out in the woods the trails get better with a little more snow. The humps in the trail are melting into the low spots and leveling off the trail. Please be careful at road crossings where your skis of your snowmobile can get stuck on the bare blacktop. We just have to take what Mother Nature gives us. Remember to be safe, ride right, and enjoy the ride.

Trail report for February 26, 2018, Good condition. With all the snow we received over the weekend the trails were filled with powder snow. The trails were very good after we groomed but with all the traffic the trails degraded very quickly. We were out last night and groomed our entire trail system so this morning the trails will be super! If you wait until the end of the day before the groomers go out the trails can get humps and bumps. We have a warm front coming in and temps can be in the 40’s all week long. This is not good, and we will have to see how much the warm weather will damage our trails. There is a storm system expected on Thursday and we will have to see if it is rain or snow. Please stay on marked trails. Remember to be safe, ride right, and enjoy the ride.

Trail report for February 23, 2018, Good condition. We got a few inches of snow last night so we should be able to go out and groom and lay out a nice trail. The trails are still very thin. We should be out grooming our trails all weekend. The corners can be very bare and icy and the active logging areas have very little snow. Logging equipment can be on the snowmobile trail at any time so use caution. If you see a groomer on the trail, please take all directions from the groomer. They are out there to make the trail better for you so give them a break. Remember to be safe, ride right, and enjoy the ride.

Trail report for February 21, 2018, Good condition. With the additional few inches of snow we received on Monday night and Tuesday morning really helped our Groomers to lay out a nice flat trail. We groomed our entire trail system and all trails turned out nice. The trails are very thin with not much snow. The corners can be bare and icy. The active logging areas have very little snow. We will just have to see how long it will last with the sunshine today. There is some snow expected toward the weekend and we will have to see how much we get. More snow will only help improve our trails. Remember to be safe, ride right, and enjoy the ride.

Trail report for February 19, 2018, Fair to poor condition. Over the weekend we had a lot of snowmobile traffic on our trails. The trails near town and out in the open have degraded rapidly but out in the woods away from town they are not to bad. The dusting of snow we got on Saturday really did not help anything. The good news is that we have some snow on the way for later today and tomorrow. If we get over a few inches of snow this will only help to get our trails back in good shape. The corners can be bare and icy, and the active logging have very little snow. I want to thank everyone who supported our fundraiser breakfast at Headwaters. The food was fantastic and a big thanks goes out to our crew that made this possible. Thank you. Remember to be safe, ride right, and enjoy the ride.

Trail report for February 16, 2018, Fair to poor condition. Over the last two days our trails have degraded rapidly. The temps in the 40’s on Wednesday were really bad for the trails. In the open areas it is getting brown and bare. We are expected to have a high volume of traffic over the weekend and no significant amount of snow in the forecast until the end of the weekend. The only good thing is that the temps are going to get a little colder. The corners are very bare and icy and active logging areas have very little snow. Our groomers will be out to do the best that they can do. With the heavy volume of traffic on the trail please use caution. Don’t forget our fundraiser breakfast at Headwaters this Sunday. Trail report for February 14, 2018, Good condition. Tuesday night and today Wednesday morning we groomed our complete trail system. There is very little snow, but we were able to get all the humps and bumps out. The trail is very thin with snow and the corners are getting bare and icy. Active logging areas have very little snow. The temps last night got down to about 10 deg. Today we are expected to get some warm weather in the 40’s This will not be good for the trail and could degrade our trail drastically. The temps for Thursday are expected in the 30’s. With the long weekend coming and the high volume of traffic expected we will have to see how our trails hold up. There is no significant amount of snow in the near forecast and we need that snow to freshen up our trails. Mother Nature is in charge and controls everything! Pray for snow!!! Trail report for February 12, 2018, Good condition. Last night and early this morning we have groomed our entire trail system. It turned out very smooth, but we are down to very little snow left on the trail. There are bare and icy corners. There is very little snow in the active logging areas. There was heavy traffic over the weekend but is down to a minimum now. We are expected to have a warm up over the next few days and no snow in the forecast. This could degrade out trails rapidly. We will just have to wait to see how warm it will get. Please pray for snow! Remember to be safe, ride right, and enjoy the ride.

Trail report for February 9, 2018, Good condition. We are expected to have subzero weather to continue over night throughout the weekend. It is about -12 below right now with highs in the teens over the next few days. There is no snow in the forecast for our area and looks like all the snow is going down by the Milwaukee-Chicago area. Our groomers have been out and will continue through the weekend and have been able to lay out a nice flat trail. With the additional heavy traffic over the weekend the trails can degrade quickly. The corners are still bare and icy and active logging areas have very little snow. Please use caution! Keep on marked trails. We need more snow. Remember to be safe, ride right, and enjoy the ride.

Trail report for February 7, 2018, Good condition. With the continued sub-zero temps the trails have remained in pretty good shape. We sure could use some more snow. Our groomers have been grooming and the trails are nice and flat. The corners are getting very icy and bare. There is very little snow in the active logging operations and logging equipment can be on the trail at any time. Please stay on marked trails. When you see a groomer try to get off the trail completely and take all directions from the groomer driver. Trail report for February 5, 2018, Good condition. Over the weekend we received a few inches of snow and help freshen up our trails. There was a lot of traffic over the weekend. Our Groomers were out and able to lay out a nice flat trail. It is very cold this morning about -12 Below. It is expected to stay in the low teen for the highs and snow is probable towards the end of the week. We still have a very thin base and corners are bare and icy. The active logging areas still have very little snow. With the continued snow and cold will help thicken up our base. Mark your calendars for February 18th. Trail report for 2 February 2018, fair condition. With the couple inches of snow we have received over the last few days and the continued cold temps has saved our trails from getting any worse. Our groomers have been out doing a great job trying to get out all the humps and bumps on the trail. We will continue to groom during the weekend. The trails are very thin with very little base. There still is very little snow in the logging areas and logging equipment can be out on the trail at any time. The corners are still bare and icy on some portions of the trail. We are expecting some snow on Saturday and will have to see how much we will get. A few inches would really help our trails get in good shape. Trail report for January 31, 2018, Poor to fair condition. The trails have very little snow and are bare and icy in the corners. With the snow system we got last night only left us with an inch plus. The temps are expected to stay in the single digits for the rest of the week which is good not to degrade our trails any further. We really need a good snowstorm to get the trails back in A1 shape again. There is another snow system coming this way maybe on Saturday. We will see how much snow we will get. There was very heavy traffic over the weekend. We were out grooming over the weekend and the trails are just worn out. The corners are bare, and a lot of the trail is brown and dirty. We are expected to have some colder temps in the single digits and some snow for the week, but we will have to see how much snow we will get. With the additional snow we received at the beginning of the week has really helped make our trails very nice. We have enough snow to lay out a nice flat trail. We expect to have heavy traffic on the trails this weekend so be sure to lookout for other snowmobiles on the trail. The Groomers were out and groomed our entire trail system in the last 24 hours. We will continue to groom throughout the week. With all this fresh powder snow it can create washboard humps on the trail quickly with just an average amount of traffic so hit the trails early. We are also expecting warmer weather towards the end of the week which can deteriorate the trails. The active logging operations have very little snow and can have logging equipment on the trails. Trail report for January 22, 2018, Fair condition. Over the weekend with the temps warming up and the heavy traffic our trails turned bad quickly. There were over 1200 snowmobiles counted on our trail counter from Friday thru Sunday. Most of our trails have turned brown and getting thin and soft. The good news is that this afternoon we are expected to get a snowstorm of 6 inches plus coming directly to the Northwoods in our area. This snow is very well needed. Our Groomers will be out during the week to smooth out the trail. Use caution in active logging areas. There is very little snow and logging equipment can be on the trail at any time. With all this snow coming there can be very low visibility so watch out for oncoming snowmobiles. Corners can still be bare and icy. Remember to be safe, ride right, and enjoy the ride.

Trail report for January 19, 2018, GOOD to VERY GOOD condition. With the snow we have had last week it was just enough to make a nice flat trail. Our temps are going to warm up for the next couple of days and our conditions can turn bad fast. We have no snow in the forecast until maybe Sunday night. We also will have additional traffic in the area due to the World Champion Snowmobile races in Eagle River this weekend. Use caution and be aware of the other oncoming snowmobiles on the trail. Our groomers will be out over the weekend and they can be out at any time grooming the trail. Take all direction from the groomer and give them a break. They are out there to make your ride more enjoyable. Active logging operations have very little snow and can have logging equipment on the trails. Corners can get bare and icy. Be careful out there! The wet snow and the cold temps that followed were the perfect mixture for what we needed. We could always use some more snow. Please use caution in the corners they still can get bare and icy. The logging areas still have little snow. We have a fundraiser breakfast at Gooch’s this Sunday. Please join me and the rest of the club at this event. We will have a great breakfast and a meat paddle raffle afterwards to win some great selections of meat for your freezer. It really is a lot of fun! Remember to be safe, ride right, and enjoy the ride.

Trail report for January 10, 2018, Fair condition. The last couple of days with 30-degree weather did not help our trails any. The good news is that we are expecting some snow for the next couple of days and then some more cold weather in single digits. This will certainly freshen up the trails and increase our base. We will have the groomers out before and through the weekend. Use caution in the corners. They can be bare and icy. The active logging operations have very little snow. Always watch out for other snowmobilers on the trail. Remember to be safe, ride right, and enjoy the ride.

Trail report for January 8, 2018, Fair to good condition. Our groomers have been out and have been able to make a nice and flat trail. We sure do need some more snow because our base is very thin. There is very little snow in the active logging operations. Corners are getting bare and icy. Be careful and use caution! We are expecting warmer weather with a snow system coming in on Wednesday and Thursday. We could have some accumulation and we will see how much we get but, this could be very good to freshen up our trails. Cross your fingers and do the snow dance. Remember to be safe, ride right, and enjoy the ride.

Trail report for January 5, 2018, Fair to good condition. Our trails are still in pretty good shape but very thin. We have been out grooming and doing what we can. Not much snow on the trails but we are able to knock out the bumps and lay out a nice trail. The corners are getting bare and icy. Use caution in the active logging areas. They have very little snow. We have a Brat Fry fund raiser in town at the Granary from 11:00 AM until 2:00 PM on Saturday the 6th of January. Please come out and join us, have some fun and support our snowmobile club! Trail report for January 3, 2018, Fair to good condition. Looks like we got a little bit of snow last night but could always use more. We have been out grooming and the cold weather has saved the snow we have gotten from melting. We may get a little lake effect snow in the next day or two but no significant amounts. The cold is supposed to stay for a while longer. Use precautions to prevent cold weather injuries. Use caution in active logging operations where low snow conditions exist. Be careful in the corners on the trail. They are getting bare and icy. Groomers can be out on the trails any time. Take all directions from the groomer. Please stay on the marked trails. Remember to be safe, ride right, and enjoy the ride.

Trail report for December 29, 2017 Fair condition. It looks like we have quite a lot of snowmobilers that came up north for the holidays. Our groomers were out early this morning and will be out tonight. We did not get a significant amount of snow yesterday and the trails are getting hit hard. Our Groomers are doing what they can to make the trails good. Watch out for them. They can be out at any time. Please stay on the marked trail. Pray for snow I hope everyone has a safe and Happy New Year. Remember to be safe, ride right, and enjoy the ride.

Trail report for December 27, 2017 Fair to good condition. I hope everyone had a Merry Christmas. We have groomed all our trails before the cold arrived on Christmas and there was very little traffic. The trails had time to set up and they are flat and rock hard. There isn’t much base but with a little more snow they could turn out very nice. The wet areas are freezing up solid. It is -25 below zero out right now (burrrr) and cold weather injuries and mechanical failures can happen very quickly. Watch out! Over the holiday season there is expected to be a lot of snowmobile traffic so use extreme caution. Active logging areas have very little snow. The corners are starting to get a little bare. Please stay on the marked trail.Remember to be safe, ride right, and enjoy the ride.

Trail report for December 22, 2017-Fair for early season riding. We did not get the snow totals that they said we were going to get. There is some snow in the forecast but not a lot. We will be out grooming and doing what we can do. I hope everyone has a very Merry Christmas Pray for some snow. Watch for grooming equipment. They can be out at any time and follow all directions from the groomer. With early season riding you can encounter hazards. They reported that it will start to get cold with a temp of -2. Watch out for cold weather injuries. Stay warm! There are active logging operations going on with very little snow on the trails in some areas. Please use caution! Please stay on marked trails. There will be no report on Christmas Day. Again, have a Merry Christmas and hope you were good for Santa.Remember to be safe, ride right, and enjoy the ride.

Trail report for December 20, 2017-Fair for early season riding. We have had our groomers out to pan down the trails the last couple of days. This has helped. We are expecting a snow system to arrive later tonight through tomorrow. The amount they say now is 2 to 4 inches. With the added snow amounts we will be out grooming. Watch for grooming equipment. They can be out at any time and follow all directions from the groomer. With early season riding you can encounter hazards. There are active logging operations going on with very little snow on the trails in some areas. Please use caution! Please stay on marked trails. Remember to be safe, ride right, and enjoy the ride.

Boulder Junction area snowmobile trails are open and in in fair condition for early season riding. Since the opening on Friday we have had our groomers out to pan down the trails. Our base is still forming, and everything is still freezing up. Always use caution and stay on marked trails. Logging areas have very little snow. There is a storm system forming and should arrive mid-week with some significant amount of snow. This will only help fill in the ruts and holes on the trail. Do your snow dance for more snow and cold to improve our conditions. Remember to be safe, ride right, and enjoy the ride!

Trail report for December 15, 2017- Vilas County Trails will opening today, December 15th at 5:00 P.M. Phelps is closed until further notice. All trails in the Boulder Junction Trail System have been panned and starting to create a base. With the 6 to 8 inches of snow we got it really helped the trail. I would like to thank everyone involved for their hard work in making possible for the trail system opening. Please use CAUTION! This is early season riding. Logging areas have very little snow and ruts and many hazards on the trail can exist. Lakes are not marked and not safe at this time. The swamps and boggy areas in trail system are still freezing up. Please stay on the marked trails. Be careful! Pray for more snow and cold to improve our conditions. Remember be safe, ride right, and enjoy the ride.

Initial trail report 8 Dec 2017
The target date for the opening of the trails will not be on December 12, 2017 as planned due to the poor weather conditions. It will be a later date determined safe for the county opening. The swamps and boggy areas in the county need to freeze up for safely riding the trails. Boulder Junction has been inspected and all deficiencies corrected. As of now we don’t have enough snow. With continued cold weather and more snow in our forecast this will only help. As always when the trails do open up please use more caution in the early season riding. I would like to thank everyone involved for their hard work in clearing and signing the Boulder Junction Trail system. Cross your fingers and pray for snow and cold. Think Snow!

Trail report for March 6, 2017-Trails are poor. The trails are still ridable but with the warmer temps and the possible light rain today they could degrade quickly. There are bare spots, icy corners, and standing puddles. Out away from town in the woods it is pretty good. I was out Saturday and overall we had a nice ride but conditions are only getting worse. Vilas county trail system is still open and we are only one snowstorm away from getting the trails back in good shape which March is always good for. Do your snow dance! Trail report for March 3, 2017-Trails are poor. With the light snow the last couple of days and the lows at zero or subzero our trails are still ride-able. There are icy corners bare spots and dirt in some areas and logging areas have very low snow but out of town in the woods it still is pretty good. It’s expected to warm up Saturday and Sunday so that may degrade our trails – we will just have to wait and see. We can always use more snow and cold weather!!! Please be careful out there! Trail report for March 1, 2017-Trails are poor. Overall our trails are still ridable. There are bare spots, icy corners, dirt, and standing puddles in some sections but good sections out in the woods away from town. It is snowing right now (Wednesday Morning) and up to 3 inches expected. This will only help improve the conditions. Thursday we are expecting some lake effect snow and cooler temps below freezing until the weekend. The month of March can have some big snowstorms in her so cross your fingers! Trail report for February 27 2017-Trails are poor. With the additional snow we received at the beginning of the weekend we were able to get our groomers out and make the trails just barely ridable. There are still icy corners, standing puddles and bare spots. If we could get a couple more inches of snow we could get the trails in pretty good shape. The forecast is not to promising. It is snowing right now (Monday morning) but there is a rain and snow mix expected for Tuesday with temps in the 20s for the rest of this week. We will just have to see how much snow we get and how warm it will get. We can always use more snow and cold weather!!! Please be careful out there! Remember be safe, ride right, and enjoy the ride.

We just have to wait to see how much snow we get over the weekend. With the large snow totals and colder weather we will be able to cover up all of the bare spots and the trails can become ridable again. Do your snow dance. Trail report for February 22 2017-Trails are poor. With the rain and warm and sunny day Monday and Tuesday our trails are pretty well shot. The trails have many puddles, bare spots and are down to the base. Out in the woods we still have a little snow. One thing on the bright side we are expecting a big snowstorm late Thursday with colder weather. It could be 6-9 inches with the heaviest band to be up to 12 inches. They aren’t quite sure were the heaviest band is going to hit yet but it could be right on our trails. If this happens we could be back out grooming and back in business for a while. Even with 6-9 inches we will be in good shape. Cross your fingers. We can always use more snow and cold weather!!! Please be careful out there! Remember be safe, ride right, and enjoy the ride.

Trail report for February 20 2017-Trails are poor. With the 50 + temps and sunshine over the weekend the trails really took a hit. The corners and around town are bare and icy. We have slush and dirt where the sun hits our trails and logging areas are very bare. Please use caution. Out in the woods it is not that bad. We are expecting a little rain today. Hopefully our base can last because there is a snowstorm coming at the end of the week with several inches of snow possible. We can always use more snow and cold weather!!! The corners are bare and icy and around town it is getting down to puddles and dirt. We still have a good base and some areas out of town are very good. The logging areas have very little snow so use caution. With warmer temps and increased traffic the trails will only get worse. We can always use more snow and cold weather!!! Trail report for February 15 2017-Trails are fair. With the increased warmer temps and the bright warm sun our trails they have degraded quickly. The corners and around town are icy and bare and the logging areas are getting down to dirt. The open areas where the sun hits is creating puddles. Out in the woods it’s not too bad and there is not a lot of snow to make big bumps. The weather report for the next few days is more warm weather so that’s not so good. Trail report for February 13 2017-Trails are fair to good. With the warmer weather and the increased traffic over the weekend our trails have degraded somewhat. I took a ride with the wife to Manitowish Waters yesterday and the trails were pretty good. The corners are icy and bare and as you get closer to town it can get bumpy. The logging areas have very little snow and sun is getting stronger this time of year so the trails with the southern exposure can start to degrade quickly. Boulder Junction Snowmobile Club President, Jim Hamilton, reports …
Trail report for February 10 2017 – Trails are in very good condition. With the continued cold weather and the few inches of snow fall our trails have stayed in pretty good shape. The corners are a little icy and the logging areas have very little snow but overall the trails are very smooth and flat. We are expecting a warm spell and with the increased traffic over the weekend our trails can degrade quickly. Our groomers are on a full schedule and will be out grooming the trails over the weekend. We can always use more snow and cold weather!!! Please be careful out there! Remember be safe, ride right, and enjoy the ride.

Trail report for February 8 2017-Trails are very good. With the few inches of snow we received Tuesday it freshened up our trails nicely. They are flat and smooth. Our groomers have been out and the icy corners and bare spots are getting better. The logging areas still have very little snow so use caution. There is a warm up expected towards the weekend and hopefully that won’t degrade our trails too bad if the temps get above freezing. We can always use more snow and cold weather!!! Trail report for February 6 2017 -Trails are in good to very good condition. Please be advised, there were quite a few sleds on the trail the last few days and with all the traffic the trail doesn’t stay flat for very long. We have had our complete trail system groomed every day over the weekend and will continue to groom this week. We are expecting a snow storm system to come in Monday night with 2” to 4” of snow expected. This will really help because our corners and around town are very bare and icy. The logging areas have very little snow so use caution. We need snow and cold weather!!! Please be careful out there! Remember be safe, ride right, and enjoy the ride.

Trail report for February 3 2017-Trails are good to very good. With the continued cold temps below freezing our base has stayed intact. We have had a few inches of snow over the last couple of days and our groomers have been able to lay out a nice trail. We still have icy corners and low snow conditions in our logging areas. Our Groomers will be out on full schedule all weekend. We are still down to a bare minimum of snow on the trails to groom but are expecting a few inches Saturday and a new snow storm system coming in Monday with several inches expected. This will really help out. If we get the new snow our trail system will be in really great shape. We need snow and cold weather!!! Please be careful out there! Trail report for February 1, 2017-Trails are in good condition. With the continued below freezing temps and the couple of inches of snow the last couple of days there is just enough snow to groom out a nice trail. We still need more snow because the corners are still icy and not much snow in the logging areas and other portions but most of the trail system is pretty good. Any amount of snow more than a dusting will help. Although there may not be much snow in the forecast in the near future there is a continuation of cold temps below freezing. Trail report for January 30, 2017-Trails are fair. With the sustained below freezing temps throughout this last week our base has stiffened up rock hard. We had a little lake effect snow (about an inch) yesterday but could use at least a couple of inches or more to cover our base well. The corners and around town it is very bare in spots and icy but out in the woods it is flat and nice. The logging areas have very little snow so use caution. We were out grooming this morning and will be out tonight also. There is a snow system coming in today and tomorrow from the northwest and we will have to see how much snow we will get from that system. Any amount will improve the trails along with the below freezing temps. We need snow and cold weather!!! Please be careful out there! Remember be safe, ride right, and enjoy the ride.

Trail report for January 27, 2017-Trails are poor. With the colder temps below freezing at least we are not losing any of our base and the trails have stiffened up. The corners and around town we have bare spots. Our groomers were out this morning and will be out tonight to smooth out the trails for the weekend. The logging areas have very little snow. We have some lake effect snow coming in over the weekend and there may be a snow storm system for the beginning of next week. We need snow and cold weather!!! Please be careful out there! Remember be safe, ride right, and enjoy the ride.

Trail report for January 25, 2017-Trails are poor. With all the warm weather and rain our trails have really degraded. The snow storm system that was coming in with 3” to 5” has headed south and we will only get about a dusting to an inch. We had our groomers out after midnight this morning and will have them out tonight in the colder temps to try to level out the trail. The groomers reported that the trail turned out nice out in the woods but around town and in the corners it’s still bad. We should be getting some lake effect snow the next couple of days and any amount will help. We will try to do what we can but around town and in the corners there are bare spots with puddles and slush There is very low snow in the logging areas so use caution. We need snow and cold weather!!! Please be careful out there! Remember be safe, ride right, and enjoy the ride.

Trail report for January 23, 2017-Trails are poor. With the temps in the mid 30’s to the mid 40’s and the on and off rain this past weekend the trails have really degraded. The corners and around town have bare spots with slush and puddles. We are down to our base and that is starting to get soft. The logging areas are very bare. Out in the woods it’s not too bad but our groomers can’t get out with these warm temps to do any good. We do have a snow storm system coming in late Tuesday and Wednesday with 3” to 5” of snow and then some colder temps expected. If this happens we will be out grooming. We need snow and cold weather!!! Please be careful out there! Remember be safe, ride right, and enjoy the ride.

Boulder Junction Snowmobile Club Trail Report as of this morning, Friday, January 20: Boulder Junction area trails at best are fair. With the temps in the mid to high 40’s the last few days the trails have really degraded. The weather report over the weekend is reporting some freezing rain and no snow until maybe the middle of next week. We just have to wait this out before our groomers can get out and groom a nice trail for you. Out in the woods the trails are not too bad but in the corners and in around town the trails are really bare. We need snow and cold weather!!! Please be careful out there! With the warmer temps that set in on Monday and expected for the rest of the week our grooming will be limited. Trail report for January 16, 2017-Our trails are very good. With all the snow we received last week it made very nice conditions for the snowmobilers over the long weekend. There were many snowmobiles and with the amount of traffic the smooth trails did not last very long. Our groomers were out at all hours over the weekend to smooth out the trails. We are expecting some warmer temps for the rest of the week and some rain/snow mix but we are right on the line of the freezing point so hopefully it won’t degrade our trails that bad. Our groomers will be out to do what they can to give you a nice trail. There are some active logging operations on our trail system so use caution in these areas. Please be careful out there! Trail report for January 9, 2017- The trails are in fair to good condition. With the very cold temps and very little snow, the corners have become bare and icy. Please use caution. The traffic on the trails over the weekend was moderate and did not degrade our trails terribly. Boulder Junction Area Snowmobile Trail Report for January 2, 2017: Happy New Year! All trails in the Boulder Junction Trail System has been groomed in the last 24 hours. Our groomers have done a great job over the weekend with the heavy traffic and the snow they had to work with. There are still bare and icy corners and some sections of our trails with very low snow. Use caution. The trails are fair to good for early season riding. We do need more snow and we are expecting 1” to 3” in the next day along with colder temps. If we do get the additional 3” of snow it will really improve the conditions. Remember be safe, ride right and enjoy the ride!

Our Groomers have been able to lay out a nice and flat trail with the snow that we have. Please watch out for the bare and icy corners. There are some logging operations going on in our trail system so use caution when ridding through these areas. Be aware that groomers can be out at any time. We will continue grooming through the weekend. Take all directions from the groomer driver, they will let you know when it is safe to pass. Give them a thumbs up if you enjoyed their trail. I hope everyone had a nice Christmas, I just got back from visiting kids and grandkids. I wish I had better news for the trail report, but it is what it is, and that is not good. We had about an inch of freezing rain or slush last night and it is 36 degrees right now. The trails look ok as we speak but the traffic is already beginning to pick up and they won't last long with no snow. The groomers will not be able to do anything with what is on the ground now so if you can wait until we get more snow I think that would be your best move, that's what I'm telling my family. Colder temps are predicted for tomorrow, but not alot of snow in the immediate future. If you are going to ride this week, don't expect too much as the trails will not be in very good shape. Sorry.

The trails continue to be in fair condition, and the forecast for today is for a couple of inches of fresh snow. The down side is that they are predicting 40s for Sunday and Monday with rain and sleet, lets hope they're wrong. We won't be doing any grooming until Monday , if we get snow, as we have family obligations too. Have a nice Christmas, and hope for snow. The warm temps yesterday didn't do much to help the trails. They are still in fair shape but my worry is that with no major snow in the forecast, and warmer temps through the weekend, they will be in poor shape for the busy Christmas week. A couple of inches is predicted for today; maybe that will help. I'll keep you posted. Lou Milewski Trail Boss, Boulder Junction Snowmobile Club

Welcome back to another "Snowmobile Season"!!!...We are having very cold temps and we are expecting more snow on Friday into Saturday so trail conditions should continue to improve. I'm happy to be reporting that the trails will open Thursday at noon. We have been out panning the last several days and the trails overall are in pretty good shape. Don't expect them to be perfect, as we have only had limited snow to work with but they are smooth. Watch out for weeds that are still poking up through the snow, it will take a few days of riding to knock them down. Trail 2West was logged this fall and a section of it is privately owned, that section is very rough and rutted, so use caution between Whitney Lake road and just north of K when on trail 2. Enjoy the new season, I will be reporting on trail conditions on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays through the season. Ride safe. Lou Milewski

SNOWMOBILE TRAIL UPDATE:
On Tuesday, December 8th, President of the Snowmobile Club Jim Hamilton and Dale Mayo with Vilas County, inspected the Boulder Junction trail system. We are happy to report that the trail inspection went extremely well. Thank you to our Trail Boss and all of the volunteers who made it this happen! Many volunteer hours went into signing, brushing and cleaning up the trails. Now all we need is snow! As of right now trails the opening date for Vilas County has been postponed. Warm temps have prevented swamps and the ground from freezing. We need cold weather and of course snow. We will inform you as soon as we know when the trails will be opening.

The trails are in good shape as of this morning (Monday, march 9) but don't wait if you want to ride. The temperatures are going up and the trail conditions will be going down. Warm, 40 degree temps, are expected all week so the trails will deteriorate quickly especially close to town so I don't expect they will be very good by weeks end. We will continue to groom, if the conditions allow, and I will continue to make my reports until the trails are gone. Thanks for all of your support at our Cabin Fever Party last Saturday it was a great success.

Trails continue to be in good condition, but watch for some rough spots. Warmer temps are predicted for this weekend but we should be able to keep the trails good as long as it freezes at night. Next week may bring 40s to the area so if you want to be assured of one last ride, I'd get out this weekend, after that mother nature may melt them away in a hurry. Remember this Saturday at Gooch's we are having our Snowmobile Club Cabin Fever Party, come join us for a great time from 5pm to 9pm.

The weatherman is predicting warm temps for next week so this weekend may be the last good one for the season so come on up! This Saturday is our club's Cabin Fever Party at Gooch's starting at 5pm. After another busy weekend the trails are in good condition. Watch out for some rough spots throughout the trail system, there are some pretty large holes that have developed due to lack of snow, so travel with caution don't override your field of vision. Snow is predicted for later this week, that should help us fill some of the rough spots. Warmer temps are also in the long range forecast so don't wait for that last ride too long or mother nature may melt the trails away. This Saturday is our club's Cabin Fever party at Gooch's starting at 5pm come. Join us for food, drink and raffle prizes.

We had a bit of snow a couple of days ago and that really helped smooth some of the holes on the trails. The trails are in good shape overall, but use caution as there are still some rough spots throughout the system. It has been very cold this past week, 25 to 30 below every night but the weatherman says its going to warm into the teens this weekend, so come on up and enjoy the trails before mother nature melts them away. Mark your calendars for our last fundraiser of the year: March 7: Snowmobile Club Cabin Fever Party at Gooch's A-1 from 5pm to 9pm.

Trails are in pretty good condition after the little snow we had yesterday. We were able to fill in some of the holes on 8E but still ride with caution, there are still some rough spots. Cold weather has limited the number of riders but the weatherman says more moderate temperatures are on the way for the weekend. Take advantage of the trails soon, we all know how quickly they can turn bad once the warmer weather hits. Another very busy weekend but the trails are hanging in there. They continue to be in pretty good condition but watch for some big bumps on 8E out of town, the trail is narrow there and there is no snow to fill in the holes. After a very cold weekend the trails are in pretty good condition. I think the bitter cold kept a lot of riders off the trails so they held up pretty well. The corners are very bare and icy but the straight areas are in good shape. Just a reminder, they are logging near Nixon Lake Road and we have been unable to groom that trail because of the logging operations, so it is bare and bumpy in spots. Cold weather is supposed to stick around until Friday but a warming trend should make for a nice weekend.

Another busy weekend is upon us and the trails continue to be in pretty good condition. I spoke with some riders yesterday and they were pleased with the trails. This should be a busy weekend, Presidents Day, some have Monday off. We will be out nightly grooming trying to keep them smooth. As always, remember to ride early in the day for the smoothest trails, by early afternoon they get pretty beat up with all the traffic. We had a couple inches of snow last night, it's snowing now but not much more is expected. The trails continue to be in pretty good condition, some riders tell me they are great others complain about the corners, I guess it depends on your perspective. We need snow to get them back in great shape, the corners are icy and bare so slow down and use caution. I'm happy to report that after a couple of less busy days we have the trails back in very good shape. Watch for a few icy corners but overall they are very good. I had several e-mails on our web site asking if I could post which trails were groomed. We groom every trail every night, unless we have an unforeseen problem. As I have stated often in my reports ride early in the day, especially on the busy three day weekends, because with the high volume of riders the trails really get bumpy by late afternoon. We groom at night for several reasons, safety being the foremost one.

I just got off the groomer and the trails are very good. Watch for some icing in the corners, but other than that they are very nice. Please make safety your number one concern. As an old fire captain of mine told me years ago "Safety doesn't begin with S it begins with YOU".
The trail leaving town to the south and east, 15s-8e has been re-routed straight east of town, we no longer go behind the Lions Pavilion. It is well marked and should not be a problem. I just got out of the groomer about 5:30am and I am happy to report that the trails are in good shape. After a very busy week the snow held up pretty well and from most accounts the trails were good especially in the morning and early afternoon. Thanks for spending your time in our area, I hope it was enjoyable for all. This week should let us catch our breath a bit as it normally slows down after the holidays. We will still be out grooming nightly so if you have the time come up and ride, but bring your cold weather gear, as temps are supposed to remain below zero much of the week.

I'm happy to say that the trails are holding up fairly well with all of the traffic. We have had a very busy week so far and it looks like it will remain so through the weekend. Some spots are getting icy, we could use more snow to fill in the corners, but overall the trails remain in good condition. As always the trails will be better early in the day, so for the smoothest ride, ride early. We will be out every night doing the best we can to make them smooth and safe. I want to apologize for the trail conditions on Monday, we had both groomers out of service that night and no trails got groomed. Hopefully that won't happen again. Thanks for your patience.

I hope you all had a great Christmas. The trails are in very good shape as of Friday morning and 3 to 5 more inches tonight and tomorrow should help us keep them that way. Remember this week will be a very busy time up here, especially with no snow to the south, so be safe and considerate of other riders. As always, we will do our best to keep the trails smooth but with all of the traffic they tend to get rough by late in the afternoon. If you have young or inexperienced riders try to ride early in the day for best trail conditions. Have fun and be safe!

Trail 8w between trail 2 and North Creek Road has been logged and the loggers plowed it so it will be rough there until we get more snow. Also be aware of green electrical boxes near some of the trails, they buried all the wires here and some of the boxes are close to our trails.

The trails are in pretty good shape, and the additional 3-4" of heavy wet snow last night and a little more on the way will really help. We are grooming until Christmas Eve and will start again on Friday to allow our grooming volunteers to spend time with family.

Thank goodness for the snow belt, we got about 6 inches over the past couple days and it is still snowing. After the warm weekend we were concerned that the trails would be in bad shape but now I think they will be OK. We will be out grooming tonight, and the trails should be in fair to good condition for the weekend. The weathermen are predicting some substantial snow for next week so keep your fingers crossed for a good holiday week.

Mother Nature did not cooperate this weekend, temps were in the 40s with light rain and fog. The trails took a beating, but don't give up hope yet. We still have a pretty good base and the weatherman is predicting some snow this week. The temperatures are supposed to drop tomorrow so I'll be able to give you all a better report on Wednesday after I can get out on the trails and assess them. Right now they are in poor condition.

Well the trails open today at 4pm and we have snow! The trails are in good condition to start the season but mother nature is not going to help the next couple days. Temperatures are predicted to be in the 40s this weekend and that could turn things bad in a hurry. We have groomed the trails so they are nice and smooth.
There are a couple things I should share with you. The trail leaving town to the south and east, 15s-8e has been re-routed straight east of town, we no longer go behind the Lions Pavilion. It is well marked and should not be a problem. Trail 8w between trail 2 and North Creek Road has been logged and the loggers plowed it so it will be rough there until we get more snow. Also be aware of green electrical boxes near some of the trails, they buried all the wires here and some of the boxes are close to our trails.
Lets hope for a safe year, we’ll do all we can to keep the trails in good shape. Thanks and Think Snow.
