Junction Trail Reports page. As regular visitors to Boulder Junction
will know, the local snowmobile club offers some of the finest
riding in the Midwest.
The 130 miles of trail in and
around the Boulder Junction area are constantly groomed throughout
the season, to keep them in tip-top shape. The trails are connected
to hundreds of miles of Vilas County trails, and thousands of miles
of northern Wisconsin trails. It's no accident that our area
continually wins awards for best snowmobile destination. It is also
worth noting that Boulder Junction lies far enough north that we are
well inside the U.P. snow-belt. We often receive lake effect snow
that communities to our south do not receive.

Condition Reports
Boulder Junction area trails are currently in poor condition. With over 3 weeks remaining in the snowmobile season, Vilas County State funded snowmobile trails will remain open at this time. A snow storm in the next 3 weeks is not out of the question. Trails have deteriorated with the sun and warm temperatures this weekend. There is still some riding in the forested areas but open areas are bare. The Vilas County Snowmobile Alliance will meet at 7 p.m. on Wednesday March 17 and assess conditions and the forecast for the following week and will make a determination of when to close trails.

Boulder Junction area trails are currently in poor condition. Late season riding is upon us. It’s getting tough to ride out there, the trails are looking pretty rough. We have had lots warm sunny weather this week with temperatures reaching well into the 30s. Which is great for those ready for spring, but not so great for those who would like to keep on riding. We’ll keep you updated as conditions change. It is March, there is always the possibility of more snow.

Boulder Junction area trails are currently in late season riding condition. Trails are rideable, but there are few bare spots. Boulder Junction Snowmobile Club is rating the north trails in fair condition, however you will most likely find poor conditions on the south end and around town.

Boulder Junction area trails are currently in fair to good late season riding condition. The Club will be out grooming as weather and conditions permit. There are a few brown spots, but not bad overall. It’s almost March, just another month of snowmobiling (conditions permitting of course) … so don’t wait get out on the trails, the time is now! Think snow!
Snowmobile Club Cabin Fever Party is this Saturday, February 27th. Held a Gooch’s A-1 Bar and Grill, a chicken dinner with all the trimmings will be available beginning at 5pm. Cost is just $10.00 for adults and $5.00 for children under 12. All proceeds benefit trail maintenance.

Boulder Junction area trails are currently in fair to good condition. Received some snow last night about an inch or two. It’s almost March, so don’t wait get out on the trails … the time is now! Think snow!

Boulder Junction area trails are currently in fair condition. Areas of the trails that were exposed to the sun this weekend are starting to show some bare spots. Other areas are in fair to good condition. We’re looking forward to some snowfall today, forecasts are calling for 1-4 inches. Highs will be in the 20s this week.

Boulder Junction area trails are in fair to good condition. Have had some warmer temperatures and sun shine the past couple days. Areas of the trails seeing sun will be in fair condition and those in the woods should be in good condition. Watch the corner, they s are icy. Let’s hope for snow and a little less sun.
2nd Annual Boulder Junction Winter Fest is scheduled for Saturday, February 20th. Winter Fest will in include an Ice Fishing Tournament. Tournament registration begins at 10:00am at the Boulder Lake Landing, with walk-in registrations welcome throughout the day. The tournament runs from 11am-5pm. At only $20 for adults and $10 for kids 14 and under, the tournament is fun and affordable for everyone. Awards will be presented to top anglers in the adult and junior divisions at Headwaters Restaurant and Tavern. Tournament proceeds benefit the Boulder Junction Area Boat Landing Improvement Fund. Other Winter Fest activities include Ice Gold and Snowshoe Relays and Tug of War. A day of fun on the ice for the whole family! Tournament registration forms are available on our home page under “Upcoming Events”. See you there!

We are happy to report that trails in the Boulder Junction area are in very good condition. We have had 3+ inches of snow since February 15th. The Snowmobile Club is grooming regularly. Looks like a great time to get out and enjoy the scenic trails of Boulder Junction!

We are happy to report that trails in the Boulder Junction area are in very good condtion. We saw 3+ inches of snow this morning and could receive 2 to 4 more throughout the day today. Groomers who were out last night report that area trails remain in good to very good condition. We received some light snow the past couple days, nothing major to report but a couple inches helps to freshen things up. Continue to watch the corners, as they are icy! Received about 3 inches of heavy wet snow on Sunday and about an inch+ on Monday of fluffy snow. The temperatures have dropped and the trails are looking fair to good right now. Boulder Junction Snowmobile Club is grooming as needed, as conditions permit.

We received about 3 inches of heavy wet snow on Sunday. Snowing this morning and more snow is expected throughout the day today. We will see temperatures drop over the next couple days with highs reaching only into the single digits by Wednesday. The snowfall and colder temperatures should help conditions. Currently trails are rated in fair condition.

Boulder Junction area trails are open and rideable. Overall conditions are fair. We are seeing some brown out there, but this is a mix of snow and dirt. Some of the corners are bare. It may not be pretty, but it is rideable. Weather for the forecast this weekend is mixed. Think snow and think cold! Enjoy your time out there and ride safe!

Well the forecasts were correct, we did receive some warmer weather and some sun over the weekend. Although the weather was quite comfortable for mid-January, it did not help the trails. Boulder Junction Snowmobile Club is reporting trails to be in fair condition. We are seeing some “snirt” and some of the corners starting to show bare ground. Guess it’s about time we all start doing the snow dance! This week's forecast looks a little better as far as temperatures are concerned, dropping to single digits and the teens during the evening hours.

Despite some warmer weather our trails are holding up just fine. The Boulder Junction Snowmobile Club is reporting trails to be in good condition. Our groomers will be out and working hard to keep the trails smooth over the weekend. You can help support the Boulder Junction Snowmobile Club by attending their breakfast this Sunday the 17th. We saw many of you up for snowmobiling over the holidays. Traffic was heavy, but, thanks to the Boulder Junction Snowmobile Club’s efforts during nightly grooming the trails remain flat and in good condition. Chance of snow is in the forecast for this week, which would freshen things up a bit. Enjoy the ride and please be safe out there!

Happy New Year and welcome to 2010! Great things to come this year including some good times on the trails! Boulder Junction Snowmobile Club is reporting that that all trails where groomed last night. They will continue to be groomed every night until Monday. Snow is running low and with the heavy holiday traffic, some dirt is starting to show on some trails. Let it snow!

Looks like a great week for snowmobiling in our area. Boulder Junction Snowmobile Club is reporting our trails to be in good to very good condition. Plenty of snow on the ground and groomers are out on a regular schedule. Enjoy the trails this week and ride safe! Lake riding is not recommended unless the trail is marked.

Boulder Junction snowmobile trails are open and the Boulder Junction Snowmobile Club is reporting them to be in good early riding condition! All trails are groomed. We do not have trails crossing lakes in our area, but if you are traveling through communities that do unless the trail is marked, do not cross. Ice is still not completely safe for crossing. Will update conditions as they change. Looks like we’ll see some snow later this week. Until then … think snow!!

Boulder Junction snowmobile trails are open and the Boulder Junction Snowmobile Club is reporting them to be in good early riding condition! All trails will be groomed by the weekend. Vilas County snowmobile trails will open at 8am December 16th! Received some more snow last night, 4+ inches. What a great site to see! Looking forward to opening this week. Early riding conditions will be present. Will update conditions when the trails open. Until then … think snow!
