Hurley, Wisconsin Snowmobiling and Snowmobile Trail Condition Reports
Snowmobile Trail Update as of Wednesday Feb. 1st, 2012 Snowfall to date is 86 inches. Snow Depth on the trails is 14 inches. The groomers report that the trails are in fair to good condition. Groomers will be out on the trails in the mornings. Unseasonable warm temps are in the forecast for the next 5 days with temps in the mid 30's during the day and 20's at night. Snow flurries possible today and Sunday. Best riding will be in the mornings. Trail conditions can change with heavy traffic and our groomers are doing everything possible to keep up on the weekends. Groomers will be out day or night so please pull off to the side of the trail to let them pass.

Our Big Snow Country Official Season Snowfall to date is 102" with 14" on the ground. Today will be mild with temps in the 30’s. Lower overnight temps which will keep the trails in good shape. Our weekend temps will be in the 20’s on Saturday and in the teens on Sunday with a chance of snow through Wednesday. GOGEBIC RANGE TRAIL AUTHORITY Reports grooming is ongoing. Overall trails are in good condition. 11N was groomed on Thursday and is in good condition. There is one water spot on 11N which you can get around. Signs are posted so use caution. Also on trails 11N and 160 closer to the lake the snow is marginal. LOGGING IS PLANNED OFF SOUTH BOUNDARY ROAD SO WATCH FOR SIGNS AND PLOWED AREAS. 11S is in good condition and again logging is planned closer to the Wisconsin boarder so watch for signs and use caution. Please remember the logging trucks have the right of way so when and if you see them please pull over…. LAKE GOGEBIC AREA GROOMERS report all trails are being groomed daily and are in good to condition. Trails are best early in the day due to the heavy traffic. Keep in mind corners may be icy so use caution. U.P.THUNDER RIDERS OF WATERSMEET report all trails are being groomed daily,trails overall are in good condition. Do expect some fair conditions. Keep in mind the groomers will be out day and night, so watch for them,and PLEASE pull over or at least slow down and wait for the operator to signal you by whenever you see them. Please use caution on corners in all areas they may be icy… ABOUT THE ICE: It’s time for our usual caution. There is no such thing as "safe ice" due to underwater currents. If you choose to go out, be sure you talk to locals where you intend to ride for specific information about the ice depth and other factors…be aware you will be riding at your own risk. Snowmobile Trail Update as of 1/27/2012 Hurley area- Trails are open and in Very Good Condition. Snowfall to date is 86 inches. The groomers report that the trails are in good to VERY GOOD condition. Trail 11A is closed due to logging. Snowmobiler's are asked to take trail 13 and trail along Island Lake Rd until further notice. Trail conditions can change with heavy traffic and our groomers are doing everything possible to keep up on the weekends. Groomers will be out day or night so please pull off to the side of the trail to let them pass.

More snow is in the forecast with 2 to 4 more inches of snow today and 1 to 3 inches of snow for tonight. All groomers are all out working on the trails to keep them in good shape. GOGEBIC RANGE TRAIL AUTHORITY Reports grooming is ongoing on all trails,conditions are good to very good. 11N is groomed and is in good condition except for one water spot which you can get around. Logging is planned off South Boundary Road so watch for signs and plowed areas. 11S is in good condition and again logging is planned closer to the Wisconsin boarder so watch for signs and use caution. LAKE GOGEBIC AREA GROOMERS report all trails are being groomed twice daily and are in good to very good condition. They are the best they have been this season. Talking to guests at motel Friday trails were good Saturday not so good from all the traffic but overall most had a good time. Sam Snowmobile Trail Update as of 1/23/2012- Trails are open and in Very Good Condition. Hurley area report: Snowfall to date is 83 inches. Snow Showers are in the forecast Sunday thru Wednesday. The groomers report that the trails are in good to excellent condition. Trail 11A is closed due to logging. Snowmobiler's are asked to take trail 13 and trail along Island Lake Rd until further notice. Trail 15 is Plowed. Trail conditions can change with heavy traffic and our groomers are doing everything possible to keep up on the weekends. Groomers will be out day or night so please pull off to the side of the trail to let them pass.

Snowmobile Trail Update as of 1/18/2012- Trails are open for the Season. Snowfall to date is 82 inches. Snow in the forecast for Weds. evening and Thurs. The groomers were out and report the trail system to be in good to very good riding condition. Trail 11a has been rerouted due to logging in that area. Snowmobilers are asked to use trail 13 and trail along Island Lake Rd. Trail 15 is plowed.. If you see the groomers on the trails please pull over to the side of the trail for them to pass. Snowmobile Trail Update as of 1/16/2012- Trails are open for the Season. Snowfall to date is 70.4 inches. There is snow in the forecast for Monday night. The groomers were out and report the trail system to be in good to very good riding condition. Trail 11a has been rerouted due to logging in that area. Snowmobile Trail Update as of 1/10/2012- Trails are open for the Season. Snowfall to date is 51 inches. We have had unseasonably warm temps the last couple of days, but the trails are holding up. Groomers were out this morning again and reporting the trails to be in fair condition. Snow accumulations of up to 10 inches expected by Friday. Groomers will be out day or night so please pull off to the side of the trail when you see them

Western UP. Temps will be unseasonable warm today so if you ride try to ride early in the day. Tonight temps will be in the low 20’s with a chance of snow showers. We will have back to normal temps next week with snow showers in the forcast on Wednesday and Thursday. GOGEBIC RANGE TRAIL AUTHORITY Reports Trails 2, 8 and 160 are all groomed and are in fair to good conditions.Trail 160 has two wet spots so use caution. Trails 11N & 11S will be groomed as soon as the groomers can get to them. We will keep you updated. GOGEBIC AREA GROOMERS Lake Gogebic groomers report all trails are groomed daily and conditions are good to very good. U.P.THUNDER RIDERS OF WATERSMEET report all groomers are out and trails are in fair to good shape. Keep in mind the groomers will be out day and night, so watch for them,and PLEASE pull over or at least slow down and wait for the operator to signal you by whenever you see them. The time you spend riding in Big Snow Country is all about lots of fun and a great time….therefore, your safety is our #1 priority…. Be Safe!! Snowmobile Trail Update as of 1/6/2012- Trails are open for the Season Iron County. Snowfall to date is 50 inches. The groomers report that 135 miles of trails are groomed and are in fair to good riding condition. Trail 3 to Saxon is closed at this time. Temperatures remain in the 20's. Groomers in all areas are out working on the trails after Mother Nature finally did her thing. GOGEBIC RANGE TRAIL AUTHORITY Reports Trails 2&8 were groomed- conditions and are fair to good. Trail 160 is being groomed today so we will have an update for you tomorrow on that trail. Trails 11N & 11S will be groomed as soon as the groomers can get to them, hopefully by the end of this week. We will keep you updated. GOGEBIC AREA GROOMERS Lake Gogebic groomers report all trails are groomed conditions are in good shape some are very good. Snowmobile Trail Update as of 1/2/2012- Trails are open for the Season. Snowfall to date is 49 inches. an additional 12 inches of snow fell this past 24 hours with 6-8 inches in the forecast for today. Our groomers are out and trails are currently being groomed and rolled. Trail 7,Upson to Saxon remains closed. All other trails are open. We will update the condition of the trails as the report is given to us.

Snowmobile Trail Update as of 12/21/11- Trails are open for the Season. Snowfall to date is 34.2 inches. Snow showers in the forecast for the next 2 days. The trails are in fair to good early season riding. 130 miles of groomed trails. If you ride the trails, please use caution. We will update the condition of the trails as weather permits. Snowmobile Trail Update as of 12/15/11- Trails are open for the Season. Snowfall to date is 29.2 inches. With the warmer temperatures this past weekend, the trails are reported to be in poor condition. Light snow showers and colder temperatures are in the forecast for the coming days. If you use the trails, please use caution. We will update the condition of the trails as weather permits.

Snowmobile Trail Update as of 12/8/2011- Trails are now OPEN! Snowfall to date is 29.2 inches. We have approximately a foot plus compacted on the ground. Cool Temps in the low 20’s during the day & Single Digits at night for the next 5days with a chance of more snow in the forecast for Friday. Snowmobile Trails are now open! Trail 17 south of Hurley will have a re-route for a short distance on town roads. Signs are in place. Please follow the re-route. As for the other trails. Groomers have been out shaping everything up for the weekend. They have rolled 100 miles of trails in the Northern part of the County and groomed 35 miles. The Groomers will be back out again tomorrow!

Snowmobile Trail Update as of 12/5/2011 We have received a total of 11 inches of fresh snow over the weekend. with a total of a foot on the ground. We are currently waiting for the trail groomers to give us a call. As soon as we receive an update we will post. At this point in time I would expect the trails to open This Thursday, December 8th with fair early season riding. Lake Effect snow is in the forecast for today.
