Located in the center of the Upper Peninsula of Michigan, which was recently named one of Top Ten Destinations in the world to visit, Top Ten Winter Family Getaways, and Top Ten for outdoorsmen to live, Marquette Country is home to Northern Michigan University and one of two Olympic Training Centers in the United States.  Recreation is the name of the game in the county.  From hiking, biking, beach walking, kayaking, skiing, snowmobiling, ice climbing, snowshoeing, hunting and fishing we have it all “just five minutes away” from any of our major cities.

Marquette offers many events throughout the year from The Blues Fest, Seafood Fest, Superior Bike Fest, Noquemanon Ski Race, Ski Jumping and Suicide Bowl, Ore to Shore Bike Race and the UP200 Sled Dog Race.

Expecting some warm temperatures this weekend, high 30's, Monday and Tuesday expecting snow and moving back into the 20's. Snowmobile trails are in good shape with a 3-4" base, trails are being groomed daily in Marquette, Negaunee, Gwinn, Sands Township, Clowry to Ishpeming, Clowry to Michigamme all other trails groomed as needed. Trails are in great shape, are being groomed daily for the more traveled trails and every other day for the lesser. Expecting snow showers for Wednesday and Thursday. Marquette offers some great snowmobiling, don't miss out.

I have some great news for you....IT'S A BLIZZARD! We are having some great snowmobiling conditions. Trails are in good to excellent shape and being groomed daily. Just a few notes of caution...Clowery to Nestoria watch out for rocks on the trail, I haven't received updates so with the new snow it might be getting better. ENJOY!

Trails are in good condition and being groomed daily, expecting snow showers for today and Friday, tempatures have dropped to below 10 degrees and with windchill below zero. Dress warm and enjoy the ride. * Trail 417 along M28 snow is a little thin so beware of rocks in that area.

Expecting 3 - 6" of snow today, trails are in good shape and yes we have snow. Grooming daily Marquette, Ishpeming, Negaunee and Gwinn. Republic and Big Bay is being groomed as needed. Please be aware from Clowry to Michigamee of some rocks on the trail. Harvey on M28 trails are a little thin and be aware of rocks on that trail.

Well it looks like the Snow God "Heikki Lunta" is smiling upon us. We received about 5" and still under a winter snow advisory untill Friday at 7:00pm. Trails are in good shape and have been groomed 1/12/12 in Marquette, Negaunee, Ishpeming and Gwinn. Be aware that south of Gwinn to Republic there has been no grooming taking place due to lack of snow. Harvey has received some snow but the trails are still a little thin. Big Bay last groomed on 1/4/12 no further updates from them at this time.

Expecting snow tonight, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday. Trails have been groomed in Marquette, Negaunee, Ishpeming, Gwinn and Big Bay. Please note that trails are in Fair to Good shape. Harvey and South of Republic by Silver Lake isn't being groomed, hopefully after the snowfall the trails will be in better condition. Think Snow.......
