Price County snowmobile trails are open and in fair to very good condition. The trails are being groomed. Conditions vary throughout the county. Snow cover is diminishing in open areas exposed to sun, on road routes and in town as the sun is now higher in the sky. There are some bare areas from logging operations, so please slow down and use caution whenever you see signs on the trail that say "Logging Ahead" or "Trucks Hauling".
Highs are predicted to be near 40 through the weekend with lows below freezing at night. Get out and ride now, as spring is just around the corner!

With 5 inches of fresh snow, trails are in the best condition that we have seen for years and trailside businesses are awaiting your arrival! Trail 80 north of Lugerville is now open. New trail (#94) connecting Trail #102 at Three Mile Corner to Catawba area Trail #80 a couple miles north of trail #181/16 has about a 1 mile rough section due to lack of snow; however, this should have improved with the new snow. Also, please slow down and use caution whenever you see signs on the trail that say "Logging Ahead" or "Trucks Hauling".
ATV use is allowed on the Flambeau Trail System in the CNNF and the Georgetown Trail west of Phillips through March 14. The warm temperatures from last week did not significantly impact the condition of our trails and the fresh wet snow that we received Sunday into Monday improved the base. With the cold temps we are now experiencing, the trails are being groomed on a regular basis. All trails should be groomed by the weekend. Lake trails are marked. Use caution as some lake surfaces may be rough. The trails remain open through March 31. Price County snowmobile trails are open and most are in good to excellent early winter condition. The trails have a good base but some areas need more snow. Trails are being groomed on a regular basis; however, some areas that had soft swamps might not be groomed yet. Grooming is currently delayed in the Prentice and Pike Lake areas due to equipment repairs. Those trails are currently in fair condition. Lake trails that are safe for travel have been marked. Use caution as lakes are rough. There is light snow in the forecast for Thursday.
A new trail just opened connecting Trail #102 at Three Mile Corner to Catawba area Trail #80 a couple miles north of trail #181/16. Use caution as at this time there currently are some rough spots due to lack of snow.

Price County snowmobile trails are open and in good to poor early winter condition. It snowed about 3 inches Dec. 24 and about an inch Dec. 27 with freezing rain and drizzle inbetween. The trails have a good base but some areas need more snow. Trails are being groomed. Swamps are frozen and lake trails that are safe for travel have been marked. If you venture off the marked trail, use caution. There is only light snow in the forecast for this week.
Corridor trail 21, also known as trail 80, north of Lugerville is closed until mid-January while 2 culverts are being replaced. There is a caution area east of Catawba on trail 181 both east and west of Intersection 100 at trail 80 as logging is taking place at this time.
Some private land may remain closed through the late bow season which ends Jan. 3. Please respect our land owners; without them we would not have trails.

Snowmobile trails open and in fair to poor early winter condition. Clubs are preparing the trails and panning has begun. The weather forecasters predict snow for 12/24-26/09 with 4 to 8 inches predicted. This will greatly improve conditions.
Trail 21/80 north of Lugerville (part of the Doc Frye Trail) is closed with culverts out until mid-January 2010.

Price County snowmobile trails open today; however, some gates will not be opened until late Tuesday and some swamps have not frozen, so trails are not being groomed at this time. Panning will begin later this week. Lakes are not yet safe for vehicle trail. It snowed 3 to 4 inches overnight. We currently have 12 to 14 inches.
Trail 21/80 north of Lugerville (part of the Doc Frye Trail) is closed until mid-January 2010 due to a Plum Creek project.

An antlerless-only gun deer season is being held Dec. 10-13 and trails will not open until after that time in consideration of land owners that may be hunting. You may see groomers and club members out packing the trails prior to this date perparing for the December 14, 2009 opener. We currently have 6 to 8 inches of snow with more snow predicted for today and tonight.
