Anvil
Lake
Part of the National Recreation Trail System. Lets you discover the
many opportunities provided within the National Forest. Parking area
is located just east of the Anvil Lake Campground entrance and south
of Hwy 70.
Length: 12 miles
Location: 8.5 miles east of Eagle River off Hwy 70.
Deep Lake
This trail system is newly marked and maintained as a designated
mountain bike trail.
Location: Take Hwy 45 N or Eagle River to Hwy G, then go one
and one quarter miles to Croker Road.
Franklin Lake
One should really take the time and take this one hour stroll along
the "Avenue of Giants." Come and see 400 year old giant
white pines and one of the finest old growth hemlock stands around
within the "Hemlock Cathedral." Parking area is located
beyond the Franklin Lake boat landing off of FR2181 on the right.
Length: 1 mile
Location: Franklin Lake Campground area, 16 miles from Eagle
River on Hwy 70E.
Mud Minnow Lake
Trail is part of the Vilas County Forest System.
Length: 2.8 miles
Location: Take Hwy G, W. of Eagle River 7 miles to Mud Minnow
Lake Road. Parking area on left or Mud Minnow Lake Road
Nordmarka Ski Trails
Trail is maintained by the Nordmarka Ski Club of Eagle River.
Length: 6 K
Location: 1 mile N. of Eagle River Chamber & Visitor's
Center on McKinley Blvd. at the Eagle River Municipal Golf Course.
Ski Hill
Trail is part of the Vilas County Forest System. (Caution: near
shooting range!)
Length: 5.1 miles
Location: 4 miles S. of Conover on Hwy 45 or 5 miles N. of
Eagle River on Hwy 45 to Ski Hill Road.
Snipe Lake & Ewald Lake
Trail is part of the Vilas County Forest System.
Length: 16.4 miles
Location: 6 miles W. of Eagle River on Hwy 70 to Wilderness
Trail, then 1 mile to Snipe Lake Game Trail or go out to Wilderness
Trail 2 miles past Snipe Lake Boat Landing with numerous trail
locations on the left.
