3/02/04 8:55 a.m. Trails remain open in Eagle River & Vilas County. In Eagle River trails are in Fair to Poor condition.
Snow base is varied throughout the Eagle River area. Heavy ice base to little or no base.
Temperatures will drop begining this afernoon. Snow in the forecast for today and later in the week. Cross your fingers!
Very little riding in Eagle River right now.
The Trail Fund Raiser at the Sportsmans Chalet was a great success. Thanks to all who attended & to the folks at Sportsman's & the SnoEagles!
THINK SNOW & COLD!!!

Trails in Eagle River are OPEN & in GOOD riding condition.
The 4 inches of hard ice base is covered with loose SNOW. Overnight another 2 inches of new SNOW was added! Winter advisory for more SNOW late today through tomorrow. 3-6 inches possible!!
All 100 miles of Headwaters Trails around Eagle River were groomed last night. Groomers report the trails are smooooooooth!
The railroad grade heading south does have a few stones working up through the snow. Nothing to worry about....plenty of lose SNOW to lubricate the hi fax.
Trail 10W had a very late re-route which required bull dozing. So be careful in that area & PLEASE STAY ON THE NEW TRAILS. That trail is in real jepopardy of being closed.
Lake trails are OPEN. Stay by the orange barrels. Both the Catfish & Eagle Lake trail have some drifts that have frozen. So be careful or you could really launch!
THINK SNOW!!
Riders are reporting great riding! Come on up & join them!

Trails are OPEN & in Fair out of town & Poor condition around town & along roadways. The best riding is still north of town taking Trail 13N. The trails are definitely in above average condition out of town.
It is SNOWING lightly right now. The base on the trails is ice. This is good as it keeps any SNOW that falls from melting. The 4 inches of ice on average is covered with 5 inches of LOOSE SNOW cover in most areas.
SNOW coming in today through the weekend. Maybe a Blizzard!
Grooming will begin Friday.
Lake Trails (Catfish Lake Loop & Eagle Lake Trails) are OPEN & marked. Plenty of SNOW cover now.
For safety sake only cross the marked lake trails by the barrels.
There have been several minor re-routes of 2 trails in the area.
Trail 70W has been re-routed just beyond the Bowling Alley. This trail will close if riders drift off the trail. PLEASE STAY ON THE NEW ROUTE.
Trail 13N at the Wisconsin River Bridge crossing has a slight re-route related to a wet swampy area. Take care.
THINK BLIZZARD!

lake-effect snow is on its way, maybe as much as 12 inches.
Don't run out to the garage and pull the covers off the sleds
yet as the trails will not open until early December. We'll
keep you posted!
