lots of new snow over the weekend has left the trails in very good shape. weather outlook looks good for another good week of riding.

Our trails continue to get better, even though we could use some new snow, they are good, to very good, overall. The grooming every night has paid dividends. Before the Christmas warm up, the trails were hard packed snow that held up remarkably well in the warm temperatures and heavy traffic. Then just before the return to freeze up they were able to flatten and smooth the trails which resulted in a new base of up to six inches of ice and hard pack. Subsequent snows, meager as they have been, have given us another three inches or more workable snow on the ice. The result is hard, flat trails with adequate lubrication and the riding is great in Land O Lakes. I rate the trails as good to very good, but many riders I have talked to are more generous, and call them excellent!

12/31/03 --- The groomers did a great job late Sunday night/early Monday morning. They were able to flatten out the corners and bumps before freeze up, dragging snow from the trail side and corners to fill in most of the bare spots. Trails are now in good condition, flat and smooth. We got an inch of new snow Monday and a trace yesterday, but enough to provide lubrication for the track.
Trails are good, but icy, especially in some corners. More snow is coming this week.

A pile of lake-effect snow is on its way, maybe as much as
12 inches. Don't run out to the garage and pull the covers
off the sleds yet as the trails will not open until early
December. We'll keep you posted!
